Re: QEMU PowerPC emulation is S L O W

UPDATE: I've measured how much it took every "incarnation" of QEMU + PearPC to boot Mac OS X Tiger 10.4, for starting the program to when the Dock pops up, all from the same disk image. Here's what I found out: QEMU on Linux (Lubuntu 16.04) (Virtual Machine): 1' 20.46'' QEMU on Windows (10 Pro): 1'...

Re: QEMU PowerPC emulation is S L O W

Okay, I just tried Qemu on a Lubuntu virtual machine, and it's actually faster on there than on my host OS.

Re: QEMU PowerPC emulation is S L O W

The emulation is quite a bit slower in Windows when compared to Linux/OSX. Why is that? I (miraculously) managed to successfully understand how to use those darn makefiles and build a Linux version of Qemu, and I'm going to try it in Lubuntu tomorrow, so I can tell if I see any performance increase...

QEMU PowerPC emulation is S L O W

QEMU PowerPC emulation is SLOW , at least on my PC, both the "classic" qemu-system-ppc.exe and qemu-system-ppc64.exe and the qemu-system-ppc-wip.exe from this forum. Is it a known problem or is it just something with my computer? Here are some specs: CPU: AMD Athlon X4 860k Quad Core @3.7GHz RAM: 8G...

Re: Qemu package and guide for Windows available

I noticed the emulation is very slow.
I tried Googling for help and, after trying what this page says, it seems like KVM was not compiled. Could you make a version with KVM compiled?

Crash when initialising disk

During setup, when I try to format a (virtual) disk, both via terminal and disk utility, QEMU crashes.
I'm trying to format hdc with Journaled HFS+
Can someone help?

Re: Qemu package and guide for Windows available

What do you mean with resize/streching? The size of the window can be set by using for example -g 1024x768x32 or another desired window size. The yellow openbios window always starts with size 640x480. But you can press ctrl-alt-u to set the initial yellow window to the size you speficied. The same...

Re: Floppies in .bin format?

Well, I've downloaded other files from BetaArchive, specifically the system 7 and 7.6 installation floppies, extracted them with DeMacBin and they work, so it must be a problem with the system 7.6.1 floppies (they're update only btw) EDIT: they only works in mini vMac, Basilisk II still doesn't reco...

Re: Floppies in .bin format?

These are probably MacBinary-encoded images. You can unpack them using unar (the Windows command-line version of The Unarchiver); afterwards, everything should be able to recognize them. I tried it and it gave me a .rsrc file and another file without extension. None of them works If it is indeed an...

In windows, the easy way is to unpack it in System 6 vmac by bin unpack program and then export it. Find them in vmac sites.

Floppies in .bin format?

I downloaded some 7.6 and a 7.6.1 floppy images, but they come in a .bin format and neither BasiliskII nor HFVexplorer (nor Mini vMac) can read them, even if I change the file extension. Mac OS always asks to initialize them.
What can I do?

Re: Compile custom variations on Mini vMac

You're probably entering the wrong things in the interface. When you do it correctly, you get an EXE file on the variations page. Try this: go to the customs variations page: http://www.gryphel.com/c/var/index.html Make only ONE change to what you see there: under the line that says "Your computer ...
