That's a good idea too, especially since I often have SunFlower running anyway.

Re: Sticky system settings

Thanks gryphel - I'm not concerned about audio quality. I only hear loud bongs everytime the vMac beeps. I don't have any programs running that do anything fancy. So turning the sound off altogether (with corresponding flashing menu bar) would certainly be an option. I'll look into that. Thanks for ...

Sticky system settings

Hi guys,

I wonder why my MiniMac does not remember the system settings after a restart. Specifically, I'd like to turn down the system beep volume and it always comes back up full blast. The same goes for other settings, although they don't bother me so much.

Re: ImportFL problem

The Plus draws to screen directly from memory -- and because memory in a real plus is limited, so is the screen size. That build uses the Plus architecture with significantly more memory, which allows for a larger screen size. Back in the day you could actually get an add-on board for the Plus that...

Re: ImportFL problem

Wow - I downloaded that build 2427 and now have a Plus with a huge screen. Beats me how this works... I thought the MacPlus couldn't draw more pixels that it does in its box.

You guys are great - looks like I'm all settled now (until the next problem comes up of course!).

Do you mean in the host? In the emulator, they are. I'll check if they are in my host setup and come back. How would the host resolve the font - does it just go by name?

Re: ImportFL problem

Not sure which version you are on, but on the developerĀ“s site are plenty builds with larger screens, with and without sound, MacII, SE etc. Make your choice from on of these: http://www.gryphel.com/c/var/latest/index.html#latest You may also ask for a special one for your needs. These options do n...

Re: ImportFL problem

You guys are really awesome here  I opened some MacDraw/MacDraw II documents and saved them as pict. In the host, Preview opened and then complained. I then used GraphicConverter which opened the graphic, but mishandled the text information in the graphic (or perhaps it didn't export properly...

Re: ImportFL problem

Old Mac fonts, of course, are stored in the resource fork, which explains your issues. Gryphel: would it be possible to roll a binhex encode/decode into the tool so that any files can be transferred? As mentioned above, I found a nice system folder backup with my 6.0.7 setup, including all fonts an...

Re: ImportFL problem

Not sure why you call this a "detour". You can have the disk image mounted automatically each time you start Mini vMac when you give the image a proper name*. Add a third image that is mounted automatically and you can use that one to save the converted files. That image with the converte...

Re: ImportFL problem

In the other thread you wrote that you could create an HFS image on your wife's 10.9 Mac using HFS Disk Maker, with all your goodies on it. You only need to mount it in MinivMac (drag it into the MinivMac window) to be able to access the files. Yes, I could do that. It's a bit of a pain though to g...

Are you trying to import applications? (Or other file type that consists mainly of a resource fork?) From the ImportFl documentation : Actually I was trying to import some fonts. ImportFL problem

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to import some files into my vMac using ImportFL. The procedure works as expected in that I get the prompt to open a file. However, the imported files are almost all 0K or rarely above that. Any idea what's going on?

Re: HFS Disk Maker: Tool for creating HFS disk images

(The file info.plist inside the application states that minimum system version is 10.9. That's how your system knows about a future system version.) With which emulator do you want to use the disk images? I'm using Mini vMac. I just used my wife's MacBook Pro which has 10.9 (go figure) and now it w...

Re: HFS Disk Maker: Tool for creating HFS disk images

Ok, the app requires 10.9. I have 10.6.8 and I get an error message that it requires 10.9. An interesting message actually, since I never knew there could be messages that refer to a future system... Do you know of a tool that creates an image under 10.6 or a link where I can download one? Thanks, c...

Re: HFS Disk Maker: Tool for creating HFS disk images

Hi and sorry if this a really dumb question, but this app only seems to run in Classic mode. I thought you'd create a disk image in OSX and then open that in the emulator? Is that not how it's supposed to work?

Thanks,
