Re: Mouse Not Scrolling in Mac OS 9.2.2

Can you tell that I haven't used Mac OS 9 in a L-O-O-N-G time? You fixed it ..... although it was never really broken. The only thing broken appears to be my memory. I didn't even notice that ordering triangle over there. I must have accidentally clicked on it without realizing it. This is...

Re: Mouse Not Scrolling in Mac OS 9.2.2

Hello, my friend. Yes, I did add that string to the script, and I do have smooth mouse transitions from Mac OS 9.2.2 to Sonoma. But as far as scrolling goes, nope, it is a no go. And that is not all. I don't know when it started, but that is not the only weirdness. In the top level window of my Mac ...

Really Impressed With Qemu!

Folks, I have to say that I am really impressed with Qemu. Compared to SheepShaver which was constantly freezing up whenever I did certain things. Qemu has been rock solid, no matter what I do in Mac OS 9.2.2. There is just no comparison when it comes to stability between the two. So thanks again to...

Mouse Not Scrolling in Mac OS 9.2.2

Ever since I installed Qemu and Mac OS 9.2.2, it seems that I am unable to scroll in windows, and must resort to using the scroll bars. Is this a known bug in Qemu, or am I missing adding a string to the qema-ppc-command script, or does something need to be done within Mac OS 9.2.2 itself?

Re: Qemu virtio drivers for Mac OS 9.x

It's because I have lived out here on this island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean for so long. Plus we have Chinese and North Korean ICBMs pointed at us. So that kind of makes a guy a little crazy.

Re: Qemu virtio drivers for Mac OS 9.x

OKay, I just found the problem. I removed both strings for the shared folder, and the problem with the cursor, screen tracks and extreme sluggishness did NOT disappear. So it had to be something else. So next I removed the strings for the virtio VGA and the tablet cursor. With that, the problem disa...

Re: Qemu virtio drivers for Mac OS 9.x

Okay, I finally got it working. BUT -- and I don't know if this is what Cat_7 warned me about -- but my cursor in Mac OS 9.2.2 has become totally useless. I mean it is jumping around all over the place, and I can barely get it to hover over anything. The shared folder does appear on my Mac OS 9 desk...

Re: Qemu virtio drivers for Mac OS 9.x

When you say that it sets the name of the disk, do you mean that I should put the name of my Sonoma hard drive, being as that is where the shared folder is located? Or are you talking about the other thing where they talk about mounting another Mac OS 9 volume? And thank you for your very explicit i...

Re: Qemu virtio drivers for Mac OS 9.x

Even though the vast majority of everything that is posted in this thread is WAY over my head -- I am still a padawan grasshopper -- I REALLY like the new features which are being added to Qemu. Thanks to MUCH help from Cat_7, I now have a full installation of Mac OS 9.0.4 running in SheepShaver and...

Re: I'm Back .... After Nine Years .... and with Networking Problems!

Okay, this old man is to blame. I keep my web browser window zoomed due to poor eyesight, so I totally missed the fact that there were more lines below the qemu-command code that you posted. In fact I missed the "Select All" as well. So beat me up already! :P The minute I realized my error...

Re: I'm Back .... After Nine Years .... and with Networking Problems!

Man, oh man! Can you tell that I have been doing this too long? Finally, some progress! I did in fact create the two disk images using qemu-img. Thankfully, I now not only have two 8 GB hard drives automatically mounted on my Mac OS 9.2 Desktop for Hermes and Hotline, but I was able to open t...

Re: I'm Back .... After Nine Years .... and with Networking Problems!

This is part three of my previous two messages. Okay, I just deleted the two .img disk images I had created yesterday, and I created two new ones using qemu-img with NAME being replaced by the actual name of my two disks. I also increased the size of each disk to 8 GB: qemu-img create -f raw -o size...

Re: I'm Back .... After Nine Years .... and with Networking Problems!

Okay, this is part 2 of my previous message. I just discovered very quickly that the startup drive string should NOT be commented. If I comment it, the Terminal spits out the following, and Qemu will not even start: /Applications/Qemu/qemu.command ; exit; qemu-system-ppc: /: drive with bus=0, unit=0...

Re: I'm Back .... After Nine Years .... and with Networking Problems!

Thank you for your patience with me, Cat_7, Ronald and everyone else. So I truly appreciate your dedication to what you do her...

Re: I'm Back .... After Nine Years .... and with Networking Problems!

Aside from everything else I just wrote above regarding having a problem with creating two recognizable drives for my BBS and Hotline server, being as I am using port 7777 as my external port on the Sonoma side for my BBS, is the string below what I would add to the shell command on the Mac OS 9.2.2...

Re: I'm Back .... After Nine Years .... and with Networking Problems!

OKay, I've got Mac OS 9.2.2 installed and set up, and I moved all of my stuff over from SheepShaver. One problem is that in SheepShaver, the folder is called "Applications", while in Qemu with 9.2.2, it is called Applications (Mac OS 9), I believe. That is going to break all of the paths i...

Please see my previous comment, Cat_7. I updated it and figured everything out. I was confused by your instructions regarding where certain things were supposed to go, as you will read above.

Re: I'm Back .... After Nine Years .... and with Networking Problems!

Man, oh man! Okay, I figured it all out. Your instructions in your guide simply were not clear to me. They gave me the impression that the ISO file and the created disk image were supposed to be in the actual "Qemu" folder which I created earlier. However, apparently, they need to be place...

Re: I'm Back .... After Nine Years .... and with Networking Problems!

Okay, so I just learned that UTM is a VM, I guess similar to VirtualBox. So with Adespoton's method, Qemu has to run inside a VM app as I used to do nine years ago with VirtualBox, Mountain Lion and SheepShaver? What about your method? Is the Qemu app a standalone app, just like SheepShaver if I fol...

Yes, see my above comment. I eventually found it. It wasn't visible at first. I just completed downloading 9.2.2. Now the fun begins ..... as soon as I understand what the next step is. Can you answer the question that I asked Adespoton? I would like to go with the GUI if possible. BTW, I am ready t...

Re: I'm Back .... After Nine Years .... and with Networking Problems!

Re: I'm Back .... After Nine Years .... and with Networking Problems!

Cat_7, if you are referring to a Hermes II manual, there is a manual for 3.5.2 in PDF format. It is available both on my BBS, as well as on the Armageddon BBS website at https://www.armageddonbbs.net BTW, I have run into a few problems while configuring the BBS, As a result, the few members that the...
