Re: A2SERVER - fully functional netatalk

AppleTalk won't work, but Apple Remote Access does; it tunnels AppleTalk over serial. That's the point of the other thread. As for the modem, if it's the one I think it is, [...] set up MacTCP and one of the SLIP control panels, and it should work. Thank you for replying. That is very interesting i...

Re: A2SERVER - fully functional netatalk

Did you see the other thread about enabling ARA over a null modem cable? I have not, but I'll probably be interested at some point over the next months, tough I want to reiterate that I am NOT going for the web surfing thing with a Mac Plus. I'm not THAT patient. I'll only go for this with a SE/30 ...

Re: A2SERVER - fully functional netatalk

I finally snapped and went for a SCSI to SD card adapter. It's cute, it's small, no cables, no Mac disassembly. Real floppy drive remains as is, functional. It's like a FloppyEmu, except almost twice cheaper and it's one huge hard drive instead of a bunch of floppy disk images. I almost prefer it th...

Re: Running 68020 software on 68000 ? 020 emu control panel?

Well, in just 2 days, I self taught THINK Pascal 4 using small examples found here and there on the internet and some very nice technical bits from the 1990 and 1991 Macintosh programming manuals which are scanned as PDF and are for the most part searchable. The Pascal syntax is weird, but it's not ...

Re: A2SERVER - fully functional netatalk

I used to communicate between a Colour Classic running 7.6.1 and an iMac DV SE running 9.2.2 using nothing but a null modem cable. Essentially this consisted of a PhoneNet connector on the Classic side (mini-DIN RS-232 to RJ 45 adapter), a custom RJ-45 with TX and RX swapped on one end, and the oth...

Re: Running 68020 software on 68000 ? 020 emu control panel?

CFM-68k is not compatible AFAIK. The instructions the software is using were implemented for 68020 processors and later Yes, I've read about this for over 2 hours now, so it is now clear that the only way the Plus is going to run RB apps (even the ones compiled with as far as back as the pre-1.x al...

Running 68020 software on 68000 ? 020 emu control panel?

Hello all OLD members! Today I have a question that is kind of off topic, but targets 68K experts out there that are still alive! :O (just kidding) Is there a way to bypass and/or emulate some of the 68020 functionality under a 68000 system? Namely, say I have a Mac Plus running System 7.5 and I'd l...

Re: A2SERVER - fully functional netatalk

By the way: There’s also MacIPRpi . Never used it myself, but they provide RPi system images you just burn on an SD card and that’s it. Yes, I am aware of this, but once again, it's a Catch-22 situation, since it requires AppleTalk thru IP which System 6.0.8 does not provide. I do not have a 800KB ...

Re: A2SERVER - fully functional netatalk

You could also buy a used LocalTalk-to-Ethernet bridge on eBay. But nowadays these are more expensive than a new AsantéTalk, I found. Yeah, no :( I mean, I'm not in the US and I'm not going to pay +100$ for an AsantéTalk adapter... (OR AM I?!) See, the thing is, even if I had that LocalTalk to Ethe...

I don’t understand how your selfmade LocalTalk adapter works 4th diagram from that picture for the splice between Mac DIN-8 and RS-232 DB-9: https://macgui.com/upload/gallery/f_0/user_2/regular/upload_4705.png Once the Mac DIN-8 to RS-232 DB-9 cable is spliced, then it's just a RS-232 to USB adapte...

Run Mac OS 7 or 8 in BasiliskII directly in the WEB BROWSER!

Run BasiliskII directly in your web browser thanks to the BasiliskII.js port by James Friend. You can play Sim City 2000 under Mac OS 7.5.3 here: https://www.macintoshrepository.org/emulate_in_browser.php?disk1=MacOS753.dsk&disk2=SimCity2000URK.dsk or under Mac OS 8.1 here: https://www.macintosh...

Re: Qemu package and guide for Windows available

Just tried 01-05-2020 and it's working great with sound! Thank god for the windows key fix. Have to say tough, I always get confused with the option and command keys under QEMU. SheepShaver got it right but QEMU got it backwards :P Quick note about the windows key fix: It still pops up when you only...

Re: Qemu package and guide for Windows available

2019-09-06 build still has no sound, just like the 2019-04-24 build.

Tough, 2019-08-23-screamer has working sound. Works great (like 2019-02-12). Why do working sound builds have a different .exe? Why not just always have it "screamer" enabled?

Re: Qemu package and guide for Windows available

Well... it worked the first time I booted but after quitting QEMU and relaunching it half an hour later... no sound anymore :'( (until I reboot my host computer). It's weird that the guest OS sound feature stays broken even after QEMU is completely shut down and relaunched. I would have thought it w...

You probably meant -M ... not -m ... correct? AH! I didn't know 9.0 had problems with the USB mouse driver. That's interesting, I took note of this. Thanks! Mac OS 9.0 is not an OS I use at all under QEMU, since it works faster under SheepShaver, so that's where I use 9.0.4. EDIT: I've tested with t...

Re: Qemu package and guide for Windows available

Tested QEMU 4.0 w/ Mac OS 9.2.2 and I am pleased with the sound support, it works really good now. I can play MP3, trackers and the sound is very clear and contiguous. Tough there is an issue: after approx. 2 minutes, the jumpy cursor bug appeared and remained. It jumped to corners, random locations...

Re: Qemu package and guide for Windows available

Aw, what a bummer. If only SheepShaver had MMU support.... that would have been great while QEMU PPC matured into something better than it. SheepShaver is a broken P.O.S. compared to QEMU. Launching SheepShaver under Windows is as reliable as flipping a coin. There are days that I can reboot ...

Just says 9.2, the install disks i found on ebay were 9.0.4, apple support said it shipped with 9.0.3. So if I got a 9.0.4 I'd be fine? Also im confused about the mac model label bit you wrote. Hi!
