Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system
Great news! I made a patch that implements the Screamer sound chip into QEMU. This one sounds better than the older Screamer implementation. Also I am trying to commit these patches into QEMU so we will no longer need a custom made version of QEMU to play sound. - Mac OS 9.0.4 plays MP3's perfectly....

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system
I used the USB audio device that comes with QEMU. I have experiemented with using a real USB sound card in QEMU. The results were not good.Cat_7 wrote:What happens when you use your default sound device on the host?

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system
Hi, I created new sound enabled (screamer) builds for OSX and Windows. OSX: https://www.emaculation.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=8848#p52104 Windows: https://www.emaculation.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=9028 My current experiences with them are: -The windows build performs slightly less...

Re: How to build qemu on a OS X PPC host?
I suggest using the tigerbrew package manager.
From the directions from this page: https://github.com/mistydemeo/tigerbrew
Install Tigerbrew:
ruby -e "$(curl -fsSkL raw.github.com/mistydemeo/tigerbrew/go/install)"
Install QEMU:
brew install qemu

Re: Supported media formats
I'm not familiar with the BIN or CUE formats but I do know the Cocoa front-end supports these formats for media: img, iso, dmg, qcow, qcow2, cloop, vmdk, cdr, toast. Also the qemu-img program that comes with QEMU does support converting a lot of other formats that could be turned into a format usabl...

Do you have it available for download? I would like to add it to this page: https://wiki.qemu.org/Hosts/MacCat_7 wrote:Nice!
I built Qemu on my G5 Dual. It runs dead slow, so I tried kvm, but it crashes with some hardware error.

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system
I just tested Mac OS 10.2.8 with Mark's screamer version of QEMU. It was terrible. There is only a fraction of a second of sound heard every second. This is way worse than Mac OS 10.4.

For Mac OS 10.4.3, the audio sounds like a vinyl record that is being played with a broken needle. It stinks.

I just wanted to say thank you. I've finally been able to play the OmniGroup ports of Fallout & Fallout 2 again :D They work almost perfectly in 10.1.5. I forgot how amazing the audio was in these games. I've had those discs sitting in a drawer for years. Thank you again and everyone else worki...

Re: The Quadra 800 coming to Qemu
According to its wikipedia entry Executor is open sourced. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Executor_(software). It is an interesting idea to use Executor's ROM in QEMU. I won't personally. An authentic ROM would probably be superior to Executor's ROM. Finding them is pretty easy. This page has the...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system
To add to this puzzle, I've now verified that OS X 10.1 hangs at a similar place during boot... 10.0 and 10.2+ don't. Oddly, I had to go all the way back to the August 2016 build to get 10.1 booting again. This includes my install CDs for 10.1.0, 10.1.3 and 10.1.5, not just the pre-installed OS. My...

How do MP3's sound in your 9.2 VM?
What Mac OS ROM version are you using? I am using version 8.4.
When I boot without the packaged openbios file I am able to boot up. Sound doesn't work though.
Maybe I need to try reinstalling Mac OS 9.

Have you tried using qemu-system-i386 with the card yet? I will be more than glad to help test this code out once you p...

Do you have the source code you made with Voodoo implemented available for download? I would like to try and build it myself. Could you send the linker output message? Re: Add Voodoo2 emulation for Qemu?
I still don't understand where this "Non-existant Hardware" NDRV is coming from, I think it's part of OS 9.2.1 itself? Wish I knew why it's not loading the NDRV from the FCode rom I'm injecting. From what I heard on the OpenBIOS mailing list, OpenBIOS is actually injecting its own driver....
