Re: Mac OS X Server 1.0 on iMac G4

Yep I've done some research, and the iMac G4 has a different architecture that the eMac and any compatible MOSX Mac  https://github.com/elliotnunn/toolboxtoolbox/wiki/Custom-IC-Chips-Used-in-G3%27s-and-G4%27s https://web.archive.org/web/20030409174739/http://developer.apple.com:80/techpubs/hard...

Re: Mac OS X Server 1.0 on iMac G4

I think that the problem is BootX rather than the CD

How did you do that? If the image is created from a bootable installation CD, you should not burn the image file onto the CD, but recreate the original CD by making again a CD from the image.
And, how do I do that? :P

Re: Mac OS X Server 1.0 on iMac G4

I tried to run BootX directly from OF, and it said:

Code: Select all

parsing <CHRP-BOOT>
DEFAULY CATCH!, code=70 at %SRR0: ff8494a0 %SRR1: 0000b030
What does it mean?

Re: Mac OS X Server 1.0 on iMac G4

As I see, the install disc of version 1.2v3 uses Mac OS 9.0.4 to boot, which is unsupported by the iMac G4 and the eMac
So, how did the OS get installed back in the day in the eMac?

Re: Mac OS X Server 1.0 on iMac G4

With Burn, in the sane iMac, and with ImgBurn on a Windows PC (I’ve tried with a lot of CDs)
The image is (if I remember well) from The Macintosh Garden

I've tried to do that, but when the Installer restart the computer to boot from the CD, the missing folder icon appears again.

Mac OS X Server 1.0 on iMac G4

I bought an iMac G4 (800MHz 15-inch model), and I want to install Mac OS X Server 1.0 on it. I downloaded an image of version 1.2 and burnt it on a CD. I've tried to make it boot, but it shows the missing folder icon. Mac OS X Server 1.0 is available for the eMac, and some people installed it on an ...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

I'd also like to note that Mac OS X DP3 crashes when trying to boot from it's CD in the latest Windows build. This happened when I was both emulating a G3 and G4. UPDATE: Spoke too soon. Apparently, I was booting off the wrong partition. Specifying the correct partition allowed DP3 to install fine:...

Mac OS X Server 1.0 and NVRAM

I want to emulate Mac OS X Server 1.0 in QEMU, but when I use the Installer, it says "Configurating your computer to start up from the Mac OS X Server CD", and it shows a error message that says "A fatal error occurred. "No boot-device property in device-tree" " I think...

Re: iOS emulator?

Is there any iOS emulator out there? When I search for it, I always stumble on simulators, but I never saw a real emulator anywhere. Isn't that weird that a 9-year old system like iOS is still not being emulated? Actually, there's an emulator with iOS SDK   , and, can I emulate the firs...
