Thanks for the Windows clipboard tip - it was getting infernally frustrating.

Re: Comment lines in prefs file
Thank you for the reply. I am just testing my Basilisk and Sheepshaver frontends and, to try to future-proof in a small way I am allowing 10 enter-it-yourself parameters. The concept has helped with the Qemu frontend which requires changes as time passes. There is no need for them at this time, but ...

Comment lines in prefs file
Is it possible to have comment lines in Sheepshaver and Basilisk prefs files?
Thanks.
Edit. It seems to ignore lines it does not understand, so maybe that is how to comment.

I'd be interested to know what the experts here make of the Sheepshaver 'Deluxe' pack that is up on the Internet Archive.

Re: Qemu package and guide for Windows available
Is it possible to run that Snow Leopard PPC beta under Qemu? I tried, but I get a kernel panic after a while during boot. (To be expected I suppose!)

Re: Qemu package and guide for Windows available
Final Leopard success on attempt no 3. The first two failed as the installer could not make the install volume (new clean drive images, different sizes) the startup volume, and of course they would not boot. So I copied my Tiger drive image and installed onto there. Still, the installer said 'Fail',...

Maybe that is the issue. I'll try that ( when Leopard has had its 5 hours and 50 minutes! ).

Re: Qemu package and guide for Windows available
Thank you very much for the prompt answer. Thanks for the info on the drives - that helps. I have found a couple more Leopards and will try them. The funnies started on changing to/from pmu, so you are helping me down the right track. What I do not understand ( even with your guide ) is how the emul...

Re: Qemu package and guide for Windows available
Some comments and questions. I last ran Qemu about 5 years ago and recently decided to see how it is going. What a difference! It is now quite usable and the improvement in graphics is stunning. 1. Firstly, thank you for the excellent guides and for providing updated executables. I would be nowhere ...

Did you unstuff the .sit file on an emulated hard drive? Not directly on a host drive. You need to do that.

The ( much appreciated ) setup guide here:

advises
"ROMs from Quadra and Performa machines work best"
A trip to the Internet Archive might help:

Re: Run game in Mac OS9 with Sheepshaver
I tried it. I got the same error ( Win10 SheepShaver_06-05-2013 ) under 9.04. It does run under 8.5.
If you didn't, you need to unstuff the .sit file on a hard disk image within the emulator - that might fix your icons up. As emendelson has said.

How much memory have you allocated to the virtual machine? Possibly too much, and the addressing is getting confused.

Re: Proposition: GUI for QEMU
And yes, I'm talking about an easy app which lets novice users to run configure QEMU with visual elements, rather than writing a config file manually I hope you can come up with such an app. QEMU is quite complex to get running - versions, a bit of a moving target, difficult parameters. "Easy&...

Re: Qemu package and guide for Windows available
Thanks, yes. I have various of those, but I can't get OS 9 to install with them, while your wip builds work on Win-64-bit machine.
Once again, thanks for the responses - the "support" here is most generous and kind.

EDIT. Sorry! I see you got it running. I just tried setting up another 9.22, and it worked this time without an install error. Last one I tried had a problem reading Big System Morsels but pressing "Start" a second time went through. The virtual drive I used had been pre-partitioned under ...
