NVRAM
Now we all now currently with Qemu PPC emulation, one always gets the infamous "Unable to find NVRAM partition" message. Why preserve the NVRAM? Because it's required for such things as the RAM disk feature in the memory control panel. Correct me if I'm wrong. Per the wiki for the as-yet-u...

Re: MPW-GM ISO for Mini vMac 26, System 7
If you're referring to the final MPW GM build (circa 1999), then it mounts fine in Qemu.
Try copying the contents to a plain HFS (*not* HFS+) disk image and try mounting that in Mini vMac

Re: macOS GUI frontend for QEMU?
Yes, and itβs certainly still rather rough around the edges and incomplete: for example, VMs must be located in ~/Library/Containers/com.utmapp.UTM/Data/Documents (sandboxed app), and currently it is not possible to store them, for example, on an external drive (which is the ideal solution for thos...

There's now an empty Qemu forum under the 68k emulation section (on this board) with no posts.

For the hardware cursor, add the line: hardcursor true For display on a Retina screen, add the lines: scale_integer true scale_nearest true The new SheepShaver build may have added one or more of these lines already, set to the default "false". See if the lines already exist with "fa...

Re: Standard, Extended, or DOS disk
Also, HFS (not HFS+) has a maximum total drive size of 2GB, at least on real hardware.
At least applies when using the 630 rom in Basilisk I presume (had a real Quadra 630 back in the day).

Re: Stuoud Aladdin Tricks
What do you need Stuffit Deluxe for? If you only need to expand Stuffit archives, the free Stuffit Expander will do. Stuffit Expander 5.5 can be found on the Macintosh Garden site. Good point. Still doesn't explain why whatever I try, ShrinkWrap 3.5 refuses to registration code. Have you tried the ...

I can't seem to install Stuffit Deluxe 5.5 installed on Mini vMac running 7.1.1. It just beeps and quits. Also, ShrinkWrap requires a serial number. Whenever I try to enter a valid serial number for ShrinkWrap 3.0 (or even just garbage) it says "Validation of the unlock code failed." Is t...

32-bit mode
Whenever I install Mode32 and enable 32-bit addressing under Mini vMac II and restart, it just quits. If I then remove Mode32, it still does the same thing. Tattletech claims it emulates a 68851 MMU, so I don't know why it would cause it to crash. Each time this happens, I have to reinstall System 7...

Splittig a hybrid image
There are several hybrid Mac/PC images on the garden, however Mini vMac can't read them because they're hybrid Mac/PC images.
Is there a utility to split the HFS partition from such image?
Toast 18 has no such feature, though it does correctly differentiate between hybrid and HFS-only images.

Re: Stuffit Deluxe User Guide
Unfortunately it requires you to "loan" it. Why would a user guide have a ISBN number assigned to it?!?!
For a user guide, that's broken...
BTW, it seems to e for either Stuffit Deluxe 3.5 or 4.0, can't tell which.

Re: Qemu package and guide for Windows available
Two new qemu-system-ppc for Windows builds have landed in the first post of this thread. One from official source, one with screamer sound support and fpu speed-up. There is now support for serial port communication over USB connections. Read the first post on how to enable that. I'll be interested...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system
Hi, The discussion on this topic seems to suggest savevm/loadvm does not work for qemu-system-ppc. https://www.emaculation.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=7047&hilit=qemu+savevm&start=1200 Best, Cat_7 Then perhaps those monitor commands (and the relevant code) should only be enabled when...

Re: Qemu providing access to folder as fat32 drive
Is the 'Apple Audio Extension' needed in MacOS in Qemu? In SheepShaver, if it happens to be installed (not with a default installation), it is best removed because of possible crashes. Sound works there fine without the extension. Just checked. No, it's not required per se, but's it's required if y...

Re: Qemu providing access to folder as fat32 drive
Well it seems like it's an either/or situation. When the "Apple Audio Extension" is enabled, it causes an illegal instruction system bomb at startup and the terminal gets spammed with "Invalid file name" errors. Without the added parameters to get the shared folder, there's no il...

Re: Qemu providing access to folder as fat32 drive
This also "works" on OSX, but it is quite buggy on both platforms. It seems the current code isn't really tested, but might get improved if we think this feature is worthwhile. -drive file=fat:rw:fat-type=16:c:\Mac-disks\Exchange,id=fat32,format=raw,if=none Get you a bit further. At least...
