Re: Shattering Error
Oh, there are my three problems again! I just forgot about QEMU and missing WiF support for AppleTalk. 8:[ (About OpenVPN, I already created an OpenVPN server, but Kanjitalk's etherhelper approach is much smarter and a green approach.) @Moderators and of cause our experts: Where can I find informati...

Re: Comparing screen resolution
Thank you for highlighting the historic development and technical dependencies. Specifically, comparison was about OS9 versions on both sides and hosting was macOS centric. Yet, I didn't start counting pixels. J There was just a feeling that lines are more sharp and fine. I'll start playing around w...

Re: Comparing screen resolution
Sorry Ronald,
I forgot to specifically ask, if there are technical differences in the resolution capabilites of BA II, SheepShaver and QEMU?
So in theory all should/could obtain the same resolution and sharp display or are there calculated resolutions employing some blurriness?
TNX,
Knuddelmac!

Re: Shattering Error
Thank you for confirming, that there are FP issues, indeed. Sure, super precise float 14 digits deep I don't need, but adding usual € cents precise would be great and fully sufficient (at least for me). No, 1st time I noticed Executor2000 and I just flapped around to read about the Executor fork des...

Re: Comparing screen resolution
Dear Ronald,
Thank you for pointing me to the sources!
I'll try to amend setting and I am curious to see how optimization will find traction.
Stay confident,

Shattering Error
Ladies, Gents, To come over these interesting pandemic challenges, I arranged for my dream in the electronic bay. The suspect is the original version of Microsoft FoxPro for the Mac. With great enthusiasm, I installed the new version on my newly established SheepShaver paradise and started to progra...

Comparing screen resolution
Dear aficionados, For years I just got stuck with Basilisk II only. After some suggestions from our valued member Cat_7, I also tried the SheepShaver setup and got blown away about availability of additional tools I was desperately missing with System 7 only. But testing SheepShaver was not enough, ...

Re: SheepShaver/BasiliskII and TAP devices
Funny to read, that you both are in the same situation. I should speed-up my work for the planned Bolo server to provide us with some distraction between things. J Right now my country-side ethernet uplink might be too weak. But around springtime I should have necessary bandwidth with 'fibre to the ...

Re: SheepShaver/BasiliskII and TAP devices
I second this! - WFH suddenly discovers, that we're always sitting in front of our monitors. When my wife comes in and BAII or SheepShaver is on the screen, the obvious question is: "...is that for work?!" So we're supposed to spend our leisure time off the system, w/o monitor, keyb...

Re: Clipboard support by emulators
For those who might have lookED into the same topic: So far just plain text (unformatted) works. I do recall that there was once an approach to also support PICT and BMP. But maybe that was an ATARI-ST emulator. My initial plan was solving (some stupid) things with AppleScript and the clipboar...

@Cat_7: Thank you for your thoughts about Big Sur. I followed the forum link above and also read the scary analysis of the developer version. Re: SheepShaver/BasiliskII and TAP devices
Uoops! Dear gents, I started to scratch my head as since of this summer I am happy to run "etherhelper/en0" (w/o quotes) with BAII and SheepShaver. Do I break the rules not going via a bridge plus tap? Here I am lacking more recent documentation getting Catalina and later even Big Sur to s...

Clipboard support by emulators
I am posting my question here in the BAII, despite it might be also relevant to other emulator chapters of this site: Are there obvious differences of the clipboard support between different emulators (e.g. BAII, QEMU, Sheepshaver)? I noticed that, 'inside' fences of the hosted OS, application of th...

Re: New System 7 setup on OSx Catalina
I just continued my work setting-up a Catalina MBP with TAP support. As the latest Tunnelblick driver failed loading, I desperately tried the good old TUN/TAP from http://tuntaposx.sourceforge.net and to my surprise it works again on Catalina. Still no WiFi (without tunneling), but the Thunderbolt E...

Re: Max disk size usable in BII
...works for me running atalkd... This is not precise, as „netatalk“ and not "atalkd" is the full Linux suite, supporting AppleTalk. But the daemon atalkd is part of it. To avoid the fragile SD-Card, you can run for instance the following setup: https://www.hardkernel.com/product-tag/odro...

Re: Max disk size usable in BII
thanks ! i've just tried your 30 Gb image. The problem seems to come when sharing big volumes in 7.5.3. If I use it as it is (as you formated it), it mount and I can copy files on it, but turns off files sharing for the all system. if I format it, then I can enable file sharing for the system and s...

Re: Build kanjitalk755 code under Mojave & Xcode 10?
Back home: New machine, new luck -> Finally builds OK on Catalina with SDL2.12 and Xcode 11.3 . Wonderful, so all that is missing are the KEXTs. But outside is sunshine and I already did waste a full day yesterday to get a Powerbook Duo with a Duo Dock running. Anyone out there with a Asanté Nubus R...

Sounds like this might be a problem similar to this one: https://www.emaculation.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=10459&start=100 As you see from that thread, some of us have had no trouble building current code. It's a puzzle. Thank you for confirming that my experience is not an exempt case....

Re: Build kanjitalk755 code under Mojave & Xcode 10?
I can build kanjitalk755's excellent BasiliskII code under High Sierra and Xcode 9.4. Under Mojave and Xcode 10.1, the genpcu module produces this error: error: Build input file cannot be found: '/Users/edward/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/BasiliskII-bnefkqahrmhuywchlwzfrqstsman/Build/Product...

Re: New System 7 setup on OSx Catalina
Regarding Thunderbolt and bridge0 -- has anyone attempted to toss tap0 into bridge0 along with en0? I figure that Thunderbolt is addressable even though most people don't connect over it, but that should at least allow local instances to talk to each other over the tap device. Yes, I tried it and i...

The most recent build had just only one scheme (Kanijatalk just confirmed that. I didn't say that there are five schemes. There is only one scheme "BasiliskII" and when you choose "Edit Scheme..." you will see five items that can be set to either Debug or Release. All good, we‘r...

I can select 5 different schemes with Xcode Version 9.4 (on High Sierra) but there is just only one scheme visible and selectable on Xcode 11.3.1 (on Catalina). Re: New System 7 setup on OSx Catalina
I usually explicitly select the "gencpu" and "build68k" schemes and build them separately (from under the Product menu), and after those build, the BasiliskII scheme should be able to run. How to do that? Best, Cat_7 Exactly that's also my question: I can select 5 different sche...
