Re: Japanese support in Mac OS 9?

Yes, I did. As far as I could tell there was no real difference though. The installation logs claim that the fonts are there and they appear in the system folder, so were properly installed to the disk I told it to install to as far as I could tell, but don't appear in the fonts section of the appe...

Re: Disk mount error and empty font suitcases?

Thanks!

Despite them being "empty" inside, they install fine.

System 7 - partially usable (not tried adding Japanese support as yet)

OS 9 - with Japanese support - fully usable!

Cheers

Disk mount error and empty font suitcases?

Can anybody help me access the fonts on this disk?
http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/scroll- ... bw-clipart

I'm running 7.6.1 under Basilisk II and when I mount the discs there is an error -43 and the font suitcases seem to be empty?

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Re: Japanese support in Mac OS 9?

You have to set "Control Panels -> Appearance -> Fonts -> Views Font" to Osaka. If you can read Japanese, refer following site. http://www.kenkyuu.net/computer-01.html Yay! Re: Japanese support in Mac OS 9?

Thanks! I followed your directions.

I get language input menu and can see Japanese in Text control panel.

Filenames and menu/app text are displayed differently, but still not as required.

I extracted the sit again just in case. No change.

I'm seeing this:

Japanese support in Mac OS 9?

What is the easiest way of being able to display Japanese text in OS 9? Is there a Japanese Sheep Saver image? Or is it built in? Currently I see (contents of a .sit.bin archive that was extracted within Sheep Shaver) https://web.archive.org/web/20020623164753/http://www.spice.or.jp:80/~hideo/ohana1...

Re: Self-contained Basilisk II VM for OSX (cool!)

Just noticed this during testing: # eval "echo \"keycodefile ${RES_PATH}/BasiliskII_keycodes\" >> ${RES}/biiprefs" This prevents my keyboard (A1243; alu wired with numeric pad) cursor up and down from working. Therefore I can't do Cmd+Alt+Up/Down to traverse Finder keeping only one window open. FYI

Re: Self-contained Basilisk II VM for OSX (cool!)

Don't give up! 1. I can fix this. I set the demo app to stay open after launch so you could click the about menu. 2. I'll do this one also. I'd encourage you to put your package on GitHub. Then it's easier for people to contribute. Why have the nested apps? Was it not possible to get it working well...

Re: Self-contained Basilisk II VM for OSX (cool!)

You may be doing nothing wrong... macOS caches icons! The best way I have found of refreshing them during this sort of back-and-forth is to, in Terminal: touch Parent.app touch Parent.app/Contents/Resources/Child.app You might also need touch Parent.app/Contents/Resources/Icon.icns touch Parent.app/...

Re: Self-contained Basilisk II VM for OSX (cool!)

Thinking about your question a little bit more....

Basically the applet binary checks for the presence of various things in the app package and enables or disables features depending on the the result.

So, yes, it might seem puzzling or akin to magic.

Re: Self-contained Basilisk II VM for OSX (cool!)

Are your files in source control anywhere? I'll happily do it for you. But, short version, you don't add it to BasiliskII executable. The information to enable the About box is in the other files in the app package. You'd add them to /Applications/Parent.app/Contents/Resources/Child.app/... if you g...

Ah, the way to do it is already in the OP and in the "Self-contained Basilisk II VM"

So I'll leave it as it is so I don't confuse things :)

Re: Self-contained Basilisk II VM for OSX (cool!)

Is there a way to make this bundle display a credits.rtf file when you click About BasiliskII? I'm going to put together a modern self-contained 68K-emulation package, and I would like to give credit where credit is due. Yes, there is. Here's an example app where I have made the necessary changes. ...

yes of course, just thought you might want to prune OT to be more generic given you do a separate WP appliance.

Re: A standalone System 7.6.1 setup using BasiliskII

I just wanted to say thanks for this!

I'm using it for FreeHand, SuperPaint and more.

There's still a lot of WordPerfect stuff on the included drive.
