Re: Qemu-system-m68k for macOS to run MacOS 7.1-8.1
It sure is picky about booting from CD images. Finally got it to a desktop and the installer using a Mac OS 8.1 ISO. It did not like any of the 7.x images I threw at it. Do .toast images work? I'm surprised at how many images just wouldn't boot (stuck at the blinking ?).

List of Apple ROMs with hashes is here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wB2HnysPp63fezUzfgpk0JX_b7bXvmAg6-Dk7QDyKPY/ ROM in question is currently highlighted in green on line 48. Thank you for the replies, guys! Yes, it was indeed the wrong ROM. Now I just have to work out how to get it to ...

Re: Qemu-system-m68k for macOS to run MacOS 7.1-8.1
So, I have yet to get this thing to work. Coming back to it this evening, I downloaded the Mac OS build from the thread to try on my MacBook Air, followed the instructions with a Quadra 800 ROM, and am simply getting a white screen when I run the .command. Same with a Performa 630 and Performa 600 R...

The option to use fn+F to go full screen seems to be gone in the 4.0.9 update. Is there a way to do that now?

Re: The UTM Thread
If you run your image in the screamer build on here, do you have the same issue? If not, raise an issue on the UTM Github tracker. Hi, Thanks for the response! It just has a different issue, namely no audio even after I add -soundhw screamer to the script. Interestingly, on UTM, it sometimes just c...

Re: The UTM Thread
I am having an odd issue with UTM's Mac99 emulation on the M1 lately, in that the VM audio seems to run slightly too fast. The sound is off-pitch and this happens in any application. If I play a QuickTime video, the video seems to run at normal speed while the sound is sped up, so it ends up stoppin...

Hi, You cannot upload screen dumps. But if you upload a screen dump to some sharing site and link to it here, it will display. I have a hunch your problem is well known (at least to me ;-) ). See here for status of various guests: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1T0kkk8WpQ-eWBIdxBnXWCfeyClVV...

Unreal Tournament on QEMU (UTM)
Software rendering, of course:
This is impressive. It looks good, sounds good and runs pretty well on my M1 mini. It's actually playable.

Re: Playing 3D games via QEMU and Mac OS X emulation....
This raises the question. Some emulators do implement 3D acceleration. PCem, for instance, can emulate 3Dfx hardware. VirtualBox implements 3D in a different way that I don't really understand. Could QEMU support 3D emulation or virtualization at some point? Is it feasible to virtualize a GPU the w...

Re: Qemu-system-m68k for macOS to run MacOS 7.1-8.1
All I'm getting from trying this is errors. I tried the allow script and got: Qemu-system-m68k-alpha % /Users/.../Desktop/Qemu-system-m68k-alpha/allow_qemu_to_run-m68k.command xattr: ./qemu-system-m68k-MacOS-alpha: No such xattr: com.apple.quarantine xattr: ./qemu-img: No such xattr: com.apple.quara...

Re: Arm faster for PPC emulation.
Another thing that might be worth considering is running QEMU on a Talos II or a Blackbird. For those who don't know, the Talos II and the Blackbird are workstations by Raptor Computing System that use IBM POWER9 CPUs. POWER9 is a distant relative of PowerPC, and apparently the two architectures ar...

Re: Make a mini PPC Mac
It would be nice to have small, cheap PowerPC processors on modern boards akin to what we have now with ARM. Such a system could then run QEMU or something like it and use native CPU instructions to run a fast virtual machine. Unfortunately, PPC has never had that much popularity. It is caught betwe...

Re: Screamer, 9.2.2 & Adventures with Sound
On an older 3.5 Ghz i7 with OSX/Windows/Linux I can play songs without a hitch, provided I run 9.1 or 9.2. Sound in OSX is not usable. What is you command line? Do you use -device usb-mouse -device usb-kbd? And the machine type? -mac99,via=pmu? Best, Cat_7 I was just using -mac99 and not specifying...

Re: Screamer, 9.2.2 & Adventures with Sound
Hi, I got best results with both Quicktime 6 and iTunes 2 installed. Best, Cat_7 Well, that is what I have, unless you mean my versions are too new. My screenshot shows that I have QuickTime 6.0.3 and iTunes 2.0.4. But again, QEMU seems to have a nasty audio latency issue on Linux hosts, and that s...

Re: Screamer, 9.2.2 & Adventures with Sound
I had to install some additional software to get through the configure process, namely: sudo apt-get install libgtk-3-dev sudo apt-get install libsdl2-dev Following that, the build was a success! I copied the executable and the BIOS folder to a different directory and ran it with otherwise the same ...

Re: Screamer, 9.2.2 & Adventures with Sound
Greetings Cat! Thank you for your response. I could give that a whirl. I could also wait a while for a fix to make its way into the official QEMU builds, if that is in the works. Are there any plans to submit such code to the project? My distro is Ubuntu-based (Bionic, to be specific), so any change...

Re: Screamer, 9.2.2 & Adventures with Sound
I have been trying to get this all running on Linux Mint 19 (on a Ryzen CPU). The repository QEMU is new enough to support running Mac OS, and I have Mac OS 9.2.2 up, but I am having an issue with silent audio output. I found my way to this thread in my quest to get it all worked out, but so far no ...
