I'm discussing the best way to add the advanced feature options to the GUI with Ronald.

Re: Beta version of new Basilisk II GUI
Yeah that's what I did on my Mojave test, I just unzipped it and ran it without moving it.
Good to know if you move it, it works. Thanks Ronald.

Re: Beta version of new Basilisk II GUI
Posted a new Basilisk II GUI version 0.15 beta. See first post in this topic: https://www.emaculation.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=10454 Thanks Ronald, It might be an idea to keep a copy of version 0.14f which seemed stable around just in case. Some release notes: A: Added Start button functio...

Thanks, I've added those and a bunch of "new" features, just waiting for Ronald to test it to his satisfaction and release it.adespoton wrote:dc42, hfv, hvf, hfs, ndif
Most of those extensions are rarely used... but why not?

Re: Beta version of new Basilisk II GUI
What other disk formats should I add to the GUI? May as well update that if I add the new icon. Cheers Edit: currently accepts the following: ["img", "dmg", "dsk", "image", "cdr", "iso", "toast", "sparsebundle", "sp...

Re: Basilisk II GUI native to OS X/macOS
My custom BasiliskII build (with modified code) looks for the prefs file that my patched GUI creates and works with. I distributed it for a while, but have replaced it with my prebuilt System761.app and System755.app which I can't link to here (because of forum rules) but which are easily found wit...

Re: Basilisk II GUI native to OS X/macOS
I patch the executable of the old BasiliskII GUI to change the prefs filename to something with a .txt extension so that I can click on it to open it in TextEdit or use the patched GUI. I don't know whether my users actually use it, though! If you’re only patching the old GUI, then how does the Bas...

Re: Basilisk II GUI native to OS X/macOS
The reason I use a visible filename in my build is that I create self-contained systems for non-technical users who won't know about symbolic links or how to create them.... 1. Do your end-users ever edit the prefs file? If yes how? 2. If no then include an 'ln' in your package. Also saves you havi...

Re: Basilisk II GUI native to OS X/macOS
Knowing that I was a Mac enthusiast, he showed me ShapeShifter running on his Amiga. I wondered how that worked as I new the Amiga used the same Motorola CPU, but didn’t have the ROM chip required to run MacOS. So I was quite impressed. Yeah identical 68k processors... limited to 16 colours in hire...

Re: Basilisk II GUI native to OS X/macOS
Is there any hope that you might be willing to post source code on GitHub? Some of us (or, more accurately, at least one of us) use/uses a custom build of BasiliskII that has a different (non-hidden) filename for the prefs file, and it would be good to able to build a copy of your prefs editor that...

Re: Basilisk II GUI native to OS X/macOS
Here’s another screenshot... I also used a program called A-Max II which was a bit faster as it shutdown the Amiga operating system and ran full screen (ShapeShifter can also run in full screen but AmigaOS runs in the background). http://d01.net/basiliskiigui/QuadrupleMacClassic2.PNG Yeah I was thin...

Thanks for the screenshot, that kind of layout makes much more sense to me...
Could you please send me a screenshot of the disk volumes and hardware tabs too?
Thanks again!

Re: Basilisk II GUI native to OS X/macOS
Hi Ronald,
Do you have a screenshot of Nigel’s interface? Sounds interesting.
Hi Adespoton,
If you can find the 7 8, I wouldn’t mind having a look. But only if it’s no trouble.

Hi Ronald,
Thanks for testing!
I like your icon a lot too.
I’m not 100% sure how that’s going to look scaled down to a regular icon size though?

Re: Basilisk II GUI native to OS X/macOS
Ok thanks very much for testing Ronald! With the rom, it is because of the prefs matching system I use isn’t exact. Will look into it. A search for a matching keyword “rom” returns two matches... rom and cdrom. I’m using match contains to get the whole line for that setting not exact match as that w...

Re: Basilisk II GUI native to OS X/macOS
Indeed, when I remove the .basilisk_ii_prefs_test file, the app crashes. Before it crashes it does, however, create an empty .basilisk_ii_prefs_test file. But with the empty .basilisk_ii_prefs_test file, the app still crashes. Didn't earlier versions create a prefs file with default configuration? ...

Re: Basilisk II GUI native to OS X/macOS
Hi Ronald, Thanks for all the time you've spent testing. I'd like to try to get a version of this finished that is safe to use with real prefs files by the end of the year. Unfortunately it doesn't make a lot of sense for me to get into it unless there's a lot of work to be done, one minor bug can u...

Re: Basilisk II GUI native to OS X/macOS
Hi Ronald, Not sure if you noticed this update from the 24th of October? Change alias link to executable to alias link to prefs file. Uploaded ne...

Sparsebundles are accessible too.
