Re: Moving Files from SheepShaver to Windows
On the Macintosh Garden, there's a Stuffit Expander/DropStuff 5.5 page with a downloadable image. Download that, and either mount it in SheepShaver, or copy it back to the guest by way of the shared folder, then mount it with DiskCopy. Run the installer inside to install Stuffit apps in OS 9. After...

Re: Moving Files from SheepShaver to Windows
Allright maybe at this point I should list exactly it is that I want so we don't miss any steps. 1. Stuffit Dropstuff isn't working for some reason, so I need to get it into SheepShaver. 2. So I need to get Stuffit Expander / Dropstuff from somewhere. 3. Which leads to the question - how do I transf...

Re: Moving Files from SheepShaver to Windows
Okay, I encountered another problem...
I had Stuffit Expander and Dropstuff on my SheepShaver OS and it used to work...and now that I open it, it's saying my Mac needs updating?!?
Now I need to ask myself how to get Stuffit onto the OS9 again. :/

Re: Moving Files from SheepShaver to Windows
Click on the Windows "C" icon, then navigate to the Users folder, then your own user folder, and finally to your Documents or Desktop folder. Save the file there. This worked - thanks! Now I sent it as a .sit file...hopefully it still works when I pass it on to another computer. Or is it ...

Re: Moving Files from SheepShaver to Windows
Have you set up a shared folder in the preferences? If you haven't, Windows defaults to using C:\ as the shared folder, and Windows 10+ might have issues with reading/writing to the root of the boot drive. Best to create a folder on the host specifically for file transfer and explicitly share that ...

Moving Files from SheepShaver to Windows
I did a search and couldn't find an exact match anywhere - I just need a reminder on how to do this! What's the method for delivering files from the SheepShaver Mac back to my Windows (and vice-versa)? Anything I put in Windows "C" on the SheepShaver Mac complains that it is "in use.&...

Re: SheepShaver for Windows
Thanks! All good now. :) I copied some applications that were on my Windows computer to the Mac side. However, when in Mac OS 9, the applications seem to appear as DOCUMENTS and won't run. How do I get the Mac Applications to be Applications again? Basically, you can't. They lost their resource fork...

SheepShaver Mouse is Choppy (Windows X)
Hi there, All is running well in SheepShaver now except for one item - the mouse doesn't feel..."natural." It's like there's a slight like between moving the real mouse and the pointer on the screen's movement. It's not a game-breaker by any means, but it *is* irritating and slows things d...

Re: Applications are now Documents and won't run
Indeed I did - thankfully, I still have my Mac OS 9 computer with me so I dug it up from the shed. All good now! Did you have your classic Mac files saved on your Windows computer unprotected, not archived or encoded in for instance .sit or .hqx format? Then the files will have lost their Mac-specif...

Re: I was unable to find the file. Please move the file...
Thanks! The disk copy worked fine - except I used it on my actual OS9 computer to make a copy of all the files I wanted to move to the emulator. Worked like a charm. :) The question presently: how do I create a disk image in OS9? In the MacOS9 disk at the upper right of the SheepShaver desktop, find...

Re: I was unable to find the file. Please move the file...
Create a disk image on your OS 9 system and copy all the folders into that. Then move the image across to the emulator and mount it (either via emulator prefs, or mount it within the OS). Then copy things over. When you move Mac files onto NTFS or FAT filesystems, they lose all the metadata associa...

Applications are now Documents and won't run
Hi there, So I got SheepShaver running (I'm using Windows 10) and had my old Mac OS 9 files sitting in my Windows computer. I conveniently popped them over to the SheepShaver OS to run them and... ...they won't work. Every file demands that "the application that created it" be around and r...

Re: SheepShaver for Windows
Hi there - first time I'm using this. And I can't get past the first step. :) I've followed all the instructions on the wiki - but when I hit "Start," I get the following error: Cannot map second Kernel Data area: 487. What do I do from here? EDIT: Nevermind, just rebooting my computer and...

Re: I was unable to find the file. Please move the file...
Hi there, Moreover, any files I'm moving over from my real Mac OS9 computer seem not to work. They all appear as "white folders" no matter what and complain that the "file that created them" could not be found. Simple example: Master of Orion II works fine on my MacOS9, but when...

I was unable to find the file. Please move the file...
Hi there. So when attempting to move files using the file transfer for SheepShaver by dropping the file onto the MacOS9 shortcut on my Windows desktop, OS9 will often give me the following message: "I was unable to find the file. Please move the file to a different Windows folder and drop it ag...
