I just realized something that is sort of disturbing... Will Emaculation.com continue? Of course. Emaculation is all about Mac emulation. It doesn't matter what's powering the Mac. Does it matter to your food whether your refrigerator uses 220v or 110v current? Well yes, actually. Everyone knows th...

I've been hearing complaints about VIA chipsets and sound problems for a long time, though I have never had a single problem while recording in my humble home studio.

Regarding the topic at hand:

I would buy(build) the $1000 x86 computer.

During one of my installations (I think it was 8.5), The OS ran some kind of first-run config utility. It asked me what my time zone is, my name, company name, etc. At one point it wanted to setup (or check) my network connection. This caused it to hang indefinetly. Perhaps anything that attempts to...

Update #2:

I am now able to boot to OS 8.6 (installed) with extensions on, jit=false. I was able to change my desktop picture, theme, and run simple text. It is working well :)

Clicking the "Get Quicktime" icon caused SheepShaver to quit without error.

UPDATE:

I have been able to install OS 8.5.1, by getting the installer off of my 8.5 CD in Basilisk II, and transferring it to my dsk file.

I can only boot OS 8.5.1 with 'jit false', and even then SheepShaver quits spontaniously without error messages.

I am now going to go to sleep (6am here), and I will leave SheepShaver open, with "jit true". This will be a good, many hour test to see if it will start up. I left SheepShaver open all night with "jit true". When I awoke, it was still stuck at 1/8 of the "Starting Up"...

I made the changes to the prefs file that you suggested, and here are the results: "jit true" -- This causes the "Startup" portion of the boot process to take a very long time (possibly forever). I walked away for 15 minutes, and when I came back, the status bar was still 1/8 com...

Wait a second...

There is a SheepShaver that works in BeOS?

Do you mean the more recent SheepShaver that can run MacOS on x86 hardware, or the origianl SheepShaver for BeOS PPC?

Visual C++ Runtime Library hates SheepShaver. (Windows)

I have successfully been able to get SheepShaver to boot to the desktop from my OS 9.0.4 CD-ROM. While attempting to install OS 9 to an HFV drive, I get the following Windows error: http://www.robotarcade.com/SA/runtime.png SheepShaver quits when the 'OK' button is clicked. How can I fix/stop this? ...

I have two legit/legal bootable CD's: 1. OS 8.1 - This causes SheepShaver to quit instantly. 2. OS 9.0.4 - This gets to about 1/4 through the startup process and hangs indefinetly. I also have a legit recovery software CD that contains a .img file called " Mac OS 8.5 Multi-Install.img". Ho...

I've tried PPC_Digger's sdl.dll, but I still get the memory error.

I've downloaded and intalled cygwin, and I have the SDL source, but I have no idea how to compile sdl with cygwin.

Does anyone have any pointers?

My above suggestion (and also option three) may be conf...

I just reinstalled BeOS this week. I sure would love to use SheepShaver in BeOS.

BeOS is incredibly easy to install. A port would allow a much greater number of people to use SheepShaver.
