Does anyone know what the Windows theme looked like before they changed it? Probably the same old windows 95 style is my guess.

I know all that and I know that there are some interesting new desktops around... maybe theres even a gui that will redefine how we use computers. But as this is a mac-oriented site, I just wondered if there was a window manager that tried to be like the mac os, thats all. I guess this belongs in th...

Cool that you're using linux. By the way... it seems to me that most good Linux desktop environments are trying to look like Windows (for it to be easier for people to switch I suppose).... Does anyone know of a Linux desktop environment that tries to look kinda like a Mac OS? If there was then that...

Man, that would be SO slow. Xboxes can barely do Windows 98, and that's native. Mac OSX or even 68k emulation would be like using a 386 with Windows xp. What were you thinking? On a positive note, the next Xbox will have a PowerPC processor (though a special breed of one) and that may be able to be ...

a complete x86 platform is less expensive than a comparable PPC one Yes I realized my little mistake once I posted. I can see how Steve Jobs's ego is connected to what kind of platform they use. (But didn't Motorola and IBM design the platform?) If nobody can find any argument besides that... then ...

It does matter what you choose, x86 processors are much cheaper than PPC processors. I think that Apple could ditch the G processors for AMD/Intel ones, possibly at the next round of upgrades, or phase them in... or something. If you're sure that Apple makes all its money on hardware sales... then h...

I totally agree with you., Kakaze. But people around here have said that badly designed hardware for the x86 platform would make OS X as unstable as Windows; and that Apple would have to develop drivers for a gazillion more hardware devices. But I think that all that they would have to do is somethi...

The amazing part would be if they developed a special way to do it that runs at 80% efficiency. Anyone who thinks that "powerpc emulation" will be too inefficient for practical use will probably be proven wrong someday- even if they have facts to back themselves up. It's happened with any ...

Yeah but Service Pack 2 is one step towards Microsoft's "Trusted Computing" scheme. If you don't know what that is, try http://www.againsttcpa.com . Personally I don't "trust" Microsoft to automatically keep tabs on what I'm doing on my computer and "update" it without ...

Well hes using Windows XP Professional. He said he did a lot of research on the internet about it and it's not fixable. Maybe it's just that type... We thought it was the sound card but he insisted that it wasn't. Anyways he's going back to his Intel board, so I wont bother. It's his problem....

Oh the studio guy, Lee, said that AMD only used VIA motherboards. I guess he didn't know what he was talking about... even though he went on for about half an hour on the subject. *yawn* But thanks for the info I'll tell him about it next time.

Well I learned today that AMD processors use some sort of VIA motherboard that really fks up music in the studio. For some reason or other, (probably cheapness of quality) crackles and pops etc. show up after recording. With Intel chipsets though, my music is as clean as, well, as Marc Nadene...

It's good that you're interested in Sheepshaver but you can only run Sheepshaver if you have Linux. And it CAN'T run OS X yet, not for a while.
