Re: Stuffit Deluxe User Guide

Yeah, the "loan" thing is because it is scanned in as part of their "Open Library" program: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_Library The lawsuits are still pending, but the Internet Archive is trying to create an online library that functions just like a regular library... whic...

Stuffit Deluxe User Guide

Open Library just scanned in the user guide for Stuffit Deluxe printed in 1994.

https://archive.org/details/stuffitdeluxe0000unse

I miss the days when we could get a 165 page hardcopy of the manual for some archive software.

Chris Crawford's Balance of Power book

I spend way too much time poking around the Open Library these days. But here's a fun find: https://openlibrary.org/books/OL2724511M/Balance_of_power It's the companion book for Chris Crawford's old "Balance of Power" game. And, interestingly, the scanned copy was signed by Crawford, with ...

Apple Talk Transfers from Host to B2

Here's something I found on the Facebook a few days ago: https://www.savagetaylor.com/2020/12/15/appletalk-from-windows-linux-osx-to-a-68k-macintosh-using-basilisk-ii-apple-remote-access-personal-server-ara-ps-and-a-usb-serial-null-modem-cable/ Full title: "AppleTalk file transfers from Windows...

Re: Programming my own Mac emulator

You cool if I add a link to the project in the wiki? I won't create a page for it now, but I'll stick it on the "other emulator" page. There's a fair amount of updating going on right now. We've managed to reach up to the point the emulator can execute the InitSlots routine. We've also got...

Re: Executor Setup Guide

I don't know what to suggest, but did you try the builds I linked to in the other Executor 2000 topic here? Well... I've been attempting to set up Executor 2000 on Big Sur. And I've come across my repeated bane of compilation: Qt5. No matter what I do, I can't seem to make cmake find the Qt5 librari...

Re: Executor Fork (Executor 2000)

Actually, you might be able to try these out:

https://github.com/victor3dptz/executor ... ster/ready

I don't know if the Mac OS X version is based on Executor 2000, but it seems to be pretty recent. I'll link to it in the wiki. Let me know if it runs okay on your end.

Re: Executor Setup Guide

I updated the guide a little bit. For the first time in twelve years. Executor still runs in Windows. Makehfv doesn't work anymore, but I guess people can easily create disk images in the Basilisk II GUI or in HFVexplorer. It is probably necessary for most people to "run as administrator" ...

Re: Executor Fork (Executor 2000)

Anyone here have builds of this? I updated the "back pages" of the wiki yesterday, and would love to provide some links. We currently link to compiled versions of the original Executor, which are less than ideal.

Re: Sheepshaver stopped opening on Windows

Nothing really comes to mind. I would just suggest deleting everything but the ROM and disk images you are using. Try downloading (the most recent version) and just setting it up from scratch. That should only take a couple minutes. If something is wrong in the prefs file that will take care of it. ...

Re: Sheepshaver stopped opening on Windows

You sure it isn't just starting minimized? For some reason, it sometimes starts but is already minimized, with an icon down in the task bar. You don't see a window for even a moment in that case. Meanwhile, on some versions of SheepShaver there aren't proper error messages when the path to the ROM i...

Glider for Android (and Windows)

Here's a port of Glider to Android. It's called Aerofoil:

Not on the Play Store yet, but you can download an apk and install it yourself. The same site includes a Windows version, but that has been available for some time.

John Rizzo's book "Macintosh-Windows Integration" has just been scanned into the Open Library and can be borrowed: https://archive.org/details/macintoshwindows0000rizz It is one of the most recent scans, so might not be available via the main Open Library page, but you can get it at the ab...

Re: Basilisk 0.8 derivative CockatriceIII

Lauri Pesonen actually wrote the original Windows port of Basilisk II. To do so, he used the same Basilisk .8 code that the author of Cockatrice III is using right now.

I bet Lauri would find this project interesting. It seems to be what he did twenty-two years ago, but now for more modern systems.

Someone should send him an email and ask. I think Darek has mellowed since the early 2000s. Maybe he'd be happy that people are still interested in his stuff and would release the code. He even sent me a nice message when I commented on one of his recent videos. But maybe he didn't know who I was. :)

Re: Easiest mac performa emulator for Macbook air

Basilisk II can run Mac OS versions 7.x through 8.1. SheepShaver can run Mac OS 7.5.2 through 9.0.4.

They are both about the same, in terms of setup. You can check the guides in the wiki.

Check the requirements of the games. Basilisk II emulates 68K Macintosh computers, while SheepShaver emulates PPC Macintosh computers. Use the emulator that best matches your requirements.
