Wow I Found you guys

I didnt know that you were still around. I was going to get back into Sheepshaver and thought about all the good info on this forum.
I have spent the last few years rebuilding a 1976 Mini and not spending as much time in the Mac Emulation world.
Thanks for keeping the forum going.

Actually I was very happy to see that this forum was still alive today. I had a request from a user to get some old Mac programs working on his Mac Pro. I knew that I could use SheepShaver to get OS 9 to work, I just forgot all the details. I remembered this forum and thankfully all the information ...

Well I have been gone a long time, but I wanted to post about Classic on Intel Macs. Apple thrives on using open source software. I always thought that they would eventually make and "official" Classic booter using SheepShaver as an under layer. I know that Steve Jobs loves to kill off old...

Well I thought it was because the the graphics on Mac OS 8-9 used something that they licensed from Adobe (truefont or something). Because of this Apple could not give it away without paying Adobe some fees.

I also voted uncertain. While running on x86 will help with, pardon the pun, compairing "apples to apples" If IBM had kept up with Apples supplies and goten the G5 into a Powerbook Apple would have stayed with the PowerPC design. I also think that if Apple was ever going to transition to x...

Wasn't SoftMac Pro supposedly to be PowerPC compatable? Yet when I see the screenshot all I see is 68k specs. Please correct me if I am wrong, however it seems that even his PPC clames were lies all along.

If I read the forum correctly, SheepShaver for Windows only supports new world roms. GB has removed support for the Old World ones. This means that you can only use Mac OS 8.5-9.0.2 with SheepShaver. However under the linux side it seems that old world roms are still supported

After you boot from the restore cd there is a file on the cd called Mac HD.IMG, its in one of the directorys on the cd. If you mount the img file you can copy all of its contents from the img to your hd file and then your SheepShaver can boot off your hd.

but i'm afraid not.
I'm using "Mac OS ROM" extracted from "Mac_OS_ROM_Update_1.0.smi.bin"(by using tomeview in BasiliskII).
That rom is a new world rom. So if your trying to boot <8.5 you will run into errors

you need to create an ISO of mac os 8.5 and copy it into your colinux hard drive then use the command ./sheepshaver --cdrom /path/to/iso this will allow sheepshaver to boot to the cdrom image. sheepshaver will not use the raw cdrom for booting. Also to copy the iso in you will need to enable scp I t...
