It look like CherryOS will come out after all... I will be very surprised if CherryOS is not based on PearPC. And if it is, then Sebastian should sue Arben. With what? His own money, Pay Pal donations? It would get very expensive and bring excessive heat on pearpc. Pearppc isn't and never will be a...

I prefer the look of OSX obviously over XP (Although XP isn't really that horrible just a bit child like. But having grown up on DOS and Spectrum Basic eye candy was never that big an issue. Been a Gentoo user for a little while now and KDE has been seducing me with it's charms. It took me a long ti...

Well I looked in the store bit and they are taking preorders, no CC details just name, address style thing. I sigfned up with some details (not mine but in some students name iwho I still get mail for) I think this is definite nullshit. VMware doesn't give a consistent 80% of performance and neither...

Sorry for the late reply, really you're only choice is linux. Use gentoo home edition and she should be fine for web browsing and document creation, KDE is a piece of piss (A little slow with only 64meg of ram but still very usuable). She should never have to go near a command prompt (You will thoug...

Heh, its a console your talking about though, not a PC, so it has nothing else running but the app or game, so it uses all 733mhz, so technicly speaking, it will run like a 733mhz G3 or G4 (whatever you compiled.). Its just simple logic, if we somhow gave DOS graphics capabilites and could start Pe...

I've been using SP2 for some time
I installed it as soon as it went final and was released to vendors. I had no problems at all until about a week ago, now I'm installing gentoo. A popular BT site which I shan't mention seems to having issues with SP2 machines and I wanted to try linux for years (Booted it on my xbox but never as a ...

We all know it smacks of bullshit but QuickTransit for x86. Allows application binaries compiled for a MIPS(r), POWER(tm), PowerPC(tm) or mainframe processor to run on an x86-based computer. Application binaries compiled for other processors will be supported soon. Operating system call mapping from...

It is something akin to - as far as I can see - the PowerPC having more registers than an x86 CPU. This was of course overcome to great effect by using another method than simply mapping PowerPC registers to x86 registers, so maybe altivec will be too. how really did they solved the register proble...

Re: fast
Qemu is also fast.. Qemu is reasonably fast (Nowhere near the 1/4 speed quoted on either of the machines I tried it on, 1 linux based and 1 XP machine) but PearPC will probably beat it speed wise (It's goal is OSX on X86 where as qemu is portability and whole system emulation). We should count ours...

perhaps trying to combine maconlinux with a cpu core from ppc, sheepshaver or qemu would eventually allow running mol in x86 linux. Qemu would be your best choice if (When) the emulated processor is capable of running Mac OS's. You should in theory be able to launch MOL through a native X86 linux d...

We use this

it's great much better than XP's built in text to speech.
If you want to use XP's built in text to speech look in the disability options.

On my Celeron 3,1 GHz and 128MB of RAM avaliable for emulator, PearPC shows G3 1,04 GHz or G4 1,0 GHz. When setting G4, PearPC seems to be running slower ?? Diodak www.macintosh.prv.pl Altivec emulation is interpreted meaning it's about 10 times slower than JIT and 400 times slower than a G4 at alt...

Re: Altivec Builds
Well our good friend Daniel Foesch on #PearPC has developed the Altivec code to have implemented in builds....what does this mean? Better compatibility in future programs (e.g. Tiger already runs better) More speed, because of the processes floating point math operations can be handled which makes ...

Does this mean we can use REAL PowerPC upgrade cards in our x86 and access them with QEMU? This means that yes one day you probably will be able to use PPC PCI upgarde cards. Not sure how useful it will be if qemu ever boots os9 it might be useful. (Can OS9 use the upgrade cards? My undersanding is...

Qemu to have native pci access
found this Hi, With this patch, you will have (VERY EXPERIMENTAL and ONLY PRELIMINARY) support for a REAL PCI cards from the QEMU guest OS. This patch is for Linux OS as a host, and the kernel needs to be patched. Read all the info at: http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/qemu-devel/2004-06/msg00360.ht...
