seppel, Yes, you in fact quite right. It really is fixed this time! Java Web Start downloaded my app and all needed JAR libraries at just over 12 megs total. During download and scanning of the signatures I got a lot of JITC Warnings like: JITC Warning, program exception: 00020000 00000c49 JITC Warn...

I'm actually using the Java update for 1.4.2. Not sure why I thought it was 1.4.1. I tried a fresh CVS build off of RemoteCVS for P4 with the -O3 flag. PPC isn't crashing completely like it did, but Java Web Start dies in OSX and I get this in the PPC console: JITC Warning, program exception: 000200...

Just tried 0.4pre for P4 from 8/17 on Richard's nightly site and starting the app through Java Web Start just crashed ppc.exe with this error: JITC Warning, program exception: 00020000 00000060 JITC msr Error: 0002d030 That's the first time I've had Java actually kill ppc. Usually it dies in OSX and...

Help getting Java apps working?
What is the best way for me to contribute time/testing/coding to get Java apps to work in PearPC? I'm not much of a C++ coder. My world is almost all Java. I have loads of crash reports for Java Web Start trying to load our application, but I don't just want to submit irrelevant reports. The reports...

Well, I went back to 0.2 but decided not to even try the download because I actually already had the combined update downloaded. The reason I was redownloading it was because OSX with 0.3pre wouldn't open the DMG file for the update. It gave codec overrun errors. I thought downloading native in the ...

CPU/OPC warning: write dec... kills net connection?
I'm trying under various builds to download the OSX Combined update for 10.3.4. It downloads at my full DSL speed up to some point like 8 megs or sometimes more (got up to almost 40 once) and then I'll get this message over and over in the console: [CPU/OPC] <Warning> write dec > 20 millisec := 3937...

Ok, I made the switch to ICS and it is MUCH more stable. For the past several days since switching to ICS the networking always starts correctly and grabs an IP from the ICS dhcp server. Browsing works fine and downloads are much better, however, I'm still having problems, just at a large size. For ...

Any type of download dies, loses route!
Ok, I've tried this again and it's not related to Java. It happens with Safari downloads as well. The problem is that after some varying amount of data is downloaded OSX stops seeing my router. I open Terminal when my download freezes and I can't ping the router. If I wait a while it usually becomes...

Thanks for the link. I've kept up with that thread as well, but it hasn't helped the download issue. I can get networking going depending on which build I run, but the problem is the network connection always seems to die after a certain amount of data has been downloaded. It can usually make it pas...

Networking in Java dies after a certain size?
I'm still trying to get a java app working that uses Java Web Start to launch. It dies in various ways at various times, sometimes with a jvm crash as I've reported elsewhere, but for this particular post I'm interested in how the network works. Very often Java Web Start dies after a certain amount ...

Optimal configuration for my hardware?
I'm using a P4 3GHz with 512 MB ram. I'm wondering what the optimal memory configuration is for me. I alternate between 128 megs and 256, but I'm not sure which is better. I'm thinking that I might not be gaining much performance at 256 megs since my machine only has 512 Megs and so is probably swap...

I use webcvs to look for changes, but wasn't sure if the ChangeLog was always updated when there is a change. Knowing if the new builds represented new code in CVS would help because each day I retest a specific app to see if it's working yet and if the code didn't change then I'm spinning my wheels...

Update on the java stuff: I am using Richard's July 7, 2004 CVS Build for Pentium 4. Java Web Start now actually starts downloading the JAR files for my application. The first time it just stopped downloading the first JAR after about 700k and then JWS displayed an error about being unable to downlo...

JonRico, I can agree with that evaluation. The pre-0.3 code seems to get further with JWS directly or with my app through JWS, but it doesn't always behave the same. It never gets into downloading the app, but at times it will load further than others into the JWS process. Sometimes when loading the...

Regarding similar apps: I get crashes sometimes just starting the Java Web Start app from Applications/Utilities/Java. I have run it successfully a few times, but other times it crashes. I haven't been able get OSX to update the software. Not sure why that is, but the Software Update app always tell...
