In a couple of months time (hopefully) PPC *will* be faster than a crappy 233/450 MHz G3 :) What would be very cool is if Apple properly recognised PearPC and did some kinda driver thing for it - eg with VMware, most Linux distros come with the VMware X server. So you're installing OS X, and it sez ...

I spose we'll just have to wait until the next official version comes out. Once that happens, I'm sure we'll be able to judge how the real developers are dealing with these extra mods... It would be good if we could have an intermediate build which just included all the existing patches *and then* t...

Perhaps. But on the other hand, that extra GUI rendering could be slowing PPC down, and we might actually get a speed increase as a result of a more accurate clock. That's a very good point! It would be cool if you could turn off the fancy OS X stuff like antialiasing and shadows etc, but th...

At the time of writing, the non-JITC version works ok but hopefully the regular ver should be ready soon.

That's why I'm kinda hoping that the (proper) developers can get out a quick version real soon (even if it's kinda broken) so that people can start poking at it, rather than using the old versions. Weren't the developers goals for 0.2 (or whatever) to have networking etc? If so, are they planning on...

I find that sometimes when I boot the SDL ver (in Windows) that I don't get logged on - then when I do try the regular logon, it doesn't like my password! After much stabbing at the keyb I find that one of the modifier keys (it's either shift, option or ctrl...) thinks it being held down! I also get...

Integrating all the different versions
Does anyone know how all these many patches are getting integrated into the full thing? I'm just a lil worried that people make different versions or patches - eg SDL, networking, timer, rightclick etc - and that they don't get integrated into the CVS tree... It would be a bit of a waste if all this...

I originally had this using the 3GB drive I downloaded from the sourceforge site - there was no drive to select in the destination box.
But using the image from
http://www.emaculation.com/phpBB/download.php?id=101
the drive appeared and everything worked fine!
Hope this helps.

Custom resolutions aka where's the widescreen?
Does anyone have any experience of getting non-standard resolutions to work in PPC? I'm just wondering about this cos my laptop has a widescreen TFT (1280x854) and I would like to be able to use the fullscreen option but the largest fullscreen one I can use is 1024x768 - and that's horribly stretche...

Chess tries to (iirc) do a square root, which isn't implemented. What I wanna know is how can square root not work?? I had heard that the FPU wasn't implemented, but if so how the hell does PearPC work at all?! I can't believe that not a single program (bar Excel and Chess) uses FP instructions! Ho...

I've never used BSD but I would have guessed that there would be some kind of swapon/swapoff commands... The main reason I want to turn it off is that even though it's got more than enough memory, I've noticed that most OSs like to poke at the swap file even though they don't need to. (Windows, I'm ...
