Richardgoodwin's works fine here.

Make sure you put 0x000c0000 as the CPUID. There are three zeros, followed by a C, then four zeros.

Also, did you remember to #comment out the other CPUID when you tried the altivec register?

MiniMac v2.4.1 - how to capture ROM images?

The front page has an update to MiniMac v2.4.1, which I have never used before. The program requires a ROM image. After a little bit of research, I found two fairly popular programs: CopyROM and AutoCopyROM. Both say that they only work with OS9, but AutoCopyROM said it would run under X in classic ...

The non-SDL version works well, btw. But I still remember the very early (hacked) SDL builds that ran soooo smooth! They had loads of bugs, OK, but none of the later versions ran as good on my system. I don't really understand why?! I mean technically. It was the patch they included for a hardware-...

Right mouse click was a special patch. that feature is not enabled in the CVS or official builds, you'd have to include it in the compiling process yourself.

What is the name of the config file that Kwai is looking for? i'm not using the suggested "default.cfg" and so PearPC is looking for "linux.img" which I don't have ;)

Never mind, you seem to be using "ppccfg.example"

AVOID 8/20/04 build. It fails to recognize bootable HD image

The hard drive image was suddenly "unbootable" with tonight's CVS builds. Stay away from them. If you go back to the stable build (0.3 official), your virtual hard drives will boot OK.

The official "Post your PearPC boot time" thread

Under 0.2/0.3pre my PearPC could go from launch to the desktop in about 2:45 consistently. Since the release of 0.3 final and the development of 0.4pre, my boot times have dropped to 1:35. My system is a Pentium 4 2.6GHz, OC'ed to 3.1GHz, hyperthreading ON (PearPC gets 50% of CPU), with 1GB of RAM, ...

Not anymore thanks to the official 0.3 release! There's an experimental idle-sleep mode for the JITC versions. if the Mac is doing nothing, then your CPU usage will reflect this.

Strange error(?) message within PPC console, PearPC runs OK

For the last 2-3 minutes (and still while I type this post) there is an unusual pattern of numbers scrolling in the PearPC console. This has never happened before. What exactly is PearPC doing? The emulated Macintosh is still on the screen and behaving normally. The flow of numbers seems to slow dow...

Older build that had butter-smooth mouse in full screen?

I seem to recall one of the 0.2 SDL builds that was first to implement SDL + full-screen. One of the nicest features about it was that the mouse was absolutely butter-smooth. The "fs_refresh_rate" switch was still implemented and always set to 60, and the redraw_rate was basically ignored ...
