There was never any sign of an x86 version of OS X at all until just this year, but it's been rumoured since OS X came out...fuelled by the fact that NeXT and Rhapsody both ran on x86.

Apple's too cautious a company to not keep doors like that open, even just a crack, for the future.

Someone "supposedly" got it running in VMWare, but I haven't heard any information how, just seen screenshots.

The file system on the disk is HFS+

True, it isn't installable right now, but when you try booting with it it gives you a Darwin error message. A regular Mac OS X disk wouldn't even get that far.

It is the real thing.

It doesn't matter what chips or other hardware the computer uses. OS X is Macintosh, and OS X isn't going to change just because it's running on a new processor. Macs will be Macs no matter what, just now they'll be more competitive because they'll have processors that are being actively researched ...

You have to be a developer to get one of the developer PowerMacs for 999 and then you have to give it back at the end of 06.

Why wouldn't it? After all, from the PearPC point of view, it's just a newer kernel version. Right. PearPC emulates the PowerPC/CISC processor on the x86/RISC, not the specific os, so it should run OS X.4 aka Tiger no sweat. How did the Duckie version of OS X.4pre fare? And why should it be a Warez...

For anyone who hasn't heard, Tiger is being released April 29th. I've already pre-ordered my copy. Apple's offering free shipping.

I wasn't going to say anything about this until I saw Phirkel's other post today. I'm trying to use System 7.5.3 and the disk mounted on the desktop, but no matter what I do, Basilisk keeps giving me the floppy disk with the question mark on it.

IT's because 9 sucked compared to X. Plus, half the work porting X to PC is already done since Darwin has an x86 version. Even though people say they don't and Apple denies it, knowing them, I'll bet you two to one that they really do have a full and working copy of X for x86 secreted away somewhere...

Try commenting out the memory if it isn't already.

Everytime I try to use more than the default it tells me that it can't find the OS.
