There was never any sign of an x86 version of OS X at all until just this year, but it's been rumoured since OS X came out...fuelled by the fact that NeXT and Rhapsody both ran on x86.
Apple's too cautious a company to not keep doors like that open, even just a crack, for the future.

It doesn't matter what chips or other hardware the computer uses. OS X is Macintosh, and OS X isn't going to change just because it's running on a new processor. Macs will be Macs no matter what, just now they'll be more competitive because they'll have processors that are being actively researched ...

Why wouldn't it? After all, from the PearPC point of view, it's just a newer kernel version. Right. PearPC emulates the PowerPC/CISC processor on the x86/RISC, not the specific os, so it should run OS X.4 aka Tiger no sweat. How did the Duckie version of OS X.4pre fare? And why should it be a Warez...

I wasn't going to say anything about this until I saw Phirkel's other post today. I'm compelled to ask now, why Phirkel feels it necessary to act like an asshole; first to a simple question that could've been answered with a simple no and friendly explanation, sans attitude, and second to a thread h...

At the risk of being a necromancer, I have been around here a lot longer than you little shits, and I suggest you perhaps learn a thing or two about life before you go any further. This thread has been resurrected from the dead far too many times, as has aafuss's shenanigans. Hence the single word ...

IT's because 9 sucked compared to X. Plus, half the work porting X to PC is already done since Darwin has an x86 version. Even though people say they don't and Apple denies it, knowing them, I'll bet you two to one that they really do have a full and working copy of X for x86 secreted away somewhere...

I wasn't able to post this a week ago, because I went through a hurricane and everything and only just got power last night, but... I'm writing this on my new Powerbook! 17 inches isn't too bad. A lot of people told me it would be too big, but it's not, really. I think it's a pretty good size. I jus...

Man...that's a lot to burn on a computer... 8O I would buy an iBook if I could. :? Well, the PC laptops I was looking at were around the same price. The Dell Inspiron 8600 configured the way I wanted it was the same price as the Powerbook before the educational discount...though with Dell I could'v...

You made me go out and buy a Mac. I just did it... 2857.40 for a 17inch PB with 128 megs of video RAM, a 5400 RPM drive and an air/car adaptor. Thank god for the educational discount. 2800 dollars... :shake: I think this is what withdraw feels like. x-posted to pearpc.net because I'm an attention wh...
