Re: Uncompressed Files?
what might other people be able to do with those files that we can't? Sounds like they're just unusable. If I follow this correctly, now that the files have been copied off the CD using a version of MacOS later than 8.0, they will work fine anywhere. And the CD will also work correctly as-is in Bas...

Re: Arduino Macintosh clone
While there have been things done with the 68k Amiga and Sega Genesis (most recently the Mega Sg), at this point any such Macintosh clone would inevitably have to at least include Apple's copyrighted ROMs. But that's probably not the only impediment.

Re: E-Maculation is Twenty Years Old!
Ahh, it was twenty years ago that I left my local Apple-dominated school board behind and moved on to university, where the labs were stocked with Windows 9x PCs. Younger me would be quite enthralled with the range of tools available today. It was vaguely satisfying around 14 years ago when I took a...

This is unclear. Are you double-clicking the file in the Finder? Are you starting Stuffit Expander and then using the File menu to open the file? Or are you trying to open the file after it has been extracted with Expander?wayi wrote:When extracting it using Stuffit Expander 5.5

Oh! Of course. That would be Cro-Mag Rally, then. (Who would have thought there would be more than one caveman-themed racer out there..?)adespoton wrote:The games listed were all products of Pangaea Software.

Re: Video card emulating emulator
I have a serious hankering to play some old Apogee games. You know, Nanosaur, Bugdom, and that old caveman racing game I forget the name of. None of those were Apogee games, but I suspect you're thinking of BC Racers . There used to be a "3D Realms Anthology" available on Steam and so on ...

Re: Any emulator that has 3D accelerator?
I own a MacBook Pro without a built-in disc drive, but I have an external one I plug in through USB, so if I put the game in that, will it work? Do I install the game on the virtual machine from the hybrid iso and then insert the actual disc to play it? If I'm not mistaken, there is nothing you can...

Re: Is E-Maculation dying?
I agree; this board seems to have been increasing in activity as of late. Yeah, but according to the Wikipedia page on SheepShaver , this emulator has not had a stable release since its 2.3 release on May 14, 2006. I'm not sure why, but it seems to be very common for open-source projects to have som...

Re: Game worked - then stopped working
For years, I had it successfully emulated on my old computer, and it was really pretty stable: I'd regularly play an old game (Castles: Siege & Conquest) and it worked fine. Ahh, good times, that game. Just in case you're not aware, GOG has the DOS version packaged with DOSBox; it's cheap (when...

So, you were trying the Windows version in Windows 10? A virtual machine running Win9x would behave better, I suspect. It might even behave with the new BoxedWine.I've tried running it in Windows but even though it does work, it is pretty awful with lots of glitches.

Re: Woolshed - Classic PPC MacOS runtime and emulator
Neat. Do you have a particular target in mind? A few years ago I would have suggested Pegasus Prime, but there's a Windows-friendly variant legally available these days. And I might suggest Chu-Teng, but it seems an English version for Windows is also well on its way . 3D accelerated games that can'...

Re: Macintosh on Workbench "as Amiga applications"?
I'm not aware of anyone having accomplished this, but it seems it should be possible. All the parts required are documented now, it's just a matter of porting to PPC (the current executor code is all 32-bit Intel IIRC). I dimly recall one occasion waaaay back when it was in active development when ...

Re: Run game in Mac OS9 with Sheepshaver
I gave it 1000Mb of space and 512 for RAM, which should be way more than enough. It's possible that is actually too much and that the game does not know how to handle that much RAM and empty space. It might work with more reasonable values, like maybe 200 MB of space and 64 MB of RAM. Alternatively...

Hello. I'm having trouble running a game. It's on a CD-ROM, and I have 64-bit Windows, so I had to extract the contents and make an image file. 4. I had a hard time extracting the contents, because my Windows laptop couldn't read the disk. I ended up using a specialty program, I think MacDisk or Tr...

Hi, I'm new here, and I'm trying to set up an emulator that can run 10.4 tiger on a virtual pc so I can run an old powerpc program without purchasing several hundred dollars of software in order to convert the data. If it comes down to that, I reckon you could probably find an old Mac Mini for a lo...

Re: [SheepShaver – Mac OS 9] Reverse Engineering a game
I would start by making absolutely sure no one's gone down this path before. There are probably many things done to the Windows version that might apply directly to the PPC version, once you understand how they were done to the Windows version in the first place. But I also expect that, as noted in ...

Re: [SheepShaver – Mac OS 9] Reverse Engineering a game
Why not just tell us the name of the game you're looking at? My second question would be, are you sure widescreen support is feasible at all? I wasn't aware Sheepshaver could run in widescreen. I expect for starters you'll want some kind of debugger or disassembler, but I wouldn't know what the best...

Re: Help opening files in Basilisk
Just an educational question - how do you know when you are dealing with a compressed file based on the information you might see in a hex editor? Is there another file signature to look for to show that it has been compressed? Probably – but it will be different for every compression format, and I...
