Re: Does SheepShaver not work on Linux ?!

You may want to study Linux basics before proceeding, but these are steps will built and start SheepShaver under Linux Mint. They work, though possibly some are unnecessary. I just tried them on a fresh copy of Linux Mint. From a terminal, enter these commands: sudo apt update sudo apt install build...

Re: Does SheepShaver not work on Linux ?!

Use your distro's package manager and install autoconf, automake, and libtool. Then try again.

Re: Installation program works under 7.6.1 and 8.6, not 9.0.

Your answer is obviously the right one - I found the CD drive for my Pismo and installed from the original CD with the Adobe File Utilities, and it worked perfectly. I've been using BetterZip on the macOS side and I think StuffIt in SheepShaver. Will continue to experiment. Meanwhile, thank you for ...

Re: Installation program works under 7.6.1 and 8.6, not 9.0.

Even more puzzling. I was curious enough to drag out my old Pismo PowerBook G3, which boots to Tiger and 9.2.2. The same problem occurred in both.

Re: Installation program works under 7.6.1 and 8.6, not 9.0.

This is very puzzling. I created two completely new SheepShaver systems, one from an international 9.0.4 CD image, one from a US English 9.0.4 CD, and the first thing I did in both was copy the unStuffed Word for Word folder to the hard disk image and try to install. Both gave me the same message as...

Re: Installation program works under 7.6.1 and 8.6, not 9.0.

That's very strange! I've tried it on three or four different OS 9 setups (one of them a clean, default US English system, the others with added applications) and I get the same error on all of them. I did the installation by clicking on the installer in the Word for Word 7.2 window, and also tried ...

Installation program works under 7.6.1 and 8.6, not 9.0.4

Here's a mystery I wonder if anyone can help solve. This archive contains the Mac version of Word for Word, a file format conversion program originally from Mastersoft, and bought by Adobe and released in 1996, and then abandoned a year or two later: http://www.columbia.edu/~em36/Word-For-Word-7.2.s...

Re: Possible to mount HFS+ CD-ROM?

I've used Windows-based software that tries to read CDs at a very slow speed when ordinary copying doesn't work. It may be possible to find that for a Mac, though of course it wouldn't help in this particular case. Also, the scratches are probably in the outer coating, not the data, so there are pro...

This is something that would be VERY useful. I've written AppleScript wrappers for SheepShaver and BasiliskII, but QEMU is beyond my abilities. We would be very glad to have a wrapped QEMU!

To D88M: Do you know what the renamed file is named now? If so, and you're on Windows, open the renamed file in Notepad.exe and let us know what it says at the start of the file and the end of file. If you don't know what the file is named now, then you'll simply have to look at every file that's in...

Re: New icons for BasiliskII for Windows

munkymajic uses the separate images in his source somehow. When he builds the BasiliskII GUI application in Xcode, the .icns file is created. Don't ask me how, that is all I know. For my version of the icons I first sent him the .icns file. He could not use that file, he needed the separate files i...

Axialis Icon Workshop should be able to produce an ICNS file from the separate images. It may be worth trying.

Re: New icons for BasiliskII for Windows

OK, I created a pull request, and kanjitalk755 can decide whether or not to accept it. The pull request is here: https://github.com/kanjitalk755/macemu/pull/40 I think I'm right in removing the block of code in x-video.cpp that refers to the c-code icon files. I can't find anything in the rest of th...

Re: New icons for BasiliskII for Windows

I have my designs as .icns files for Mac. I don’t have a Windows machine, but I can provide the image files for the required sizes. If you send me a 512x512 .png image, I can create a Windows .ico file. So instead of providing one high resolution image, I’d like to create an image with the correspo...

I think these look excellent - and Ronald's look excellent too, in a different style. If a consensus develops here in favor of the newer version, I can post a pull request to kanjitalk755 to include them.

Re: New icons for BasiliskII for Windows

I was wrong, and I wasted your time (and mine) with the .c files. All that is needed for the correct icons to appear in Windows is to replace the .ico file. The reason I was wrong is this. Windows caches desktop and Explorer icons. So, even though I built BII with a new .ico file, the old ugly green...

Yes (if you mean the MacOS version of the 7/8 icon). Look at the list of affected files:

Here they are: http://ronaldpr.home.xs4all.nl/basiliskiiforum/BasiliskII_icons.zip I have no way to check if the c-resource files are OK. There are a couple of choices when saving the files. A standalone BasiliskII system for Windows (experimental)

Thanks to the excellent recent work by kanjitalk755, it now makes sense to put together a standalone BasiliskII-System761 system for Windows somewhat like my MacOS9 system for Windows. I've put together a system that does this: When you launch the MacSys761.exe program, it launches a complete Basili...

Re: New icons for BasiliskII for Windows

Doesn't that change the Resource section checksum making it mismatch with the PE header value? If you want to preview the icons, you can do so using Resource Hacker -- this will also let you replace icons and modify the PE header to match. Have you actually experimented? The icons created by the c ...

Re: New icons for BasiliskII for Windows

I'll check these later, but here's the foolproof method I used for the c files: I opened one of the original files from the source and the newly-created file with the better icon. I copied the data part of the newly-created file to the clipboard, then went back to the original file and pasted it ove...

Re: New icons for BasiliskII for Windows

To recapitulate: You need the BasiliskII.icns and BasiliskII.ico files and c-source files 32x32, 48x48, and 128x128. (No 64x64?) Edit: I see two c-source files in the Unix source: BasiliskII_32x32x32_icon.c and BasiliskII_128x128x32_icon.c The third "32" refers to the color depth? I think...
