To add to Ronald's post, you can virtualize a modern Intel Mac from OS X Tiger to Snow Leopard using virtualization software like VMware and instructions from the OSX86 project. I'm not sure about other visualization software though.

Older versions of Basilisk II were able to extract the sound from the ROM as a WAV file. The latest versions of BII obviously don't have this ability (SS never did), but I believe you can add your own startup sound into the BII folder, if it is named properly (I can't remember what that filename is ...

Darek benchmarks the heck out of QEMU, but only does the x86 tests in order to compare it with VirtualPC and Bochs. He thinks the virtualization of x86 machines is utter crap in QEMU compared to Bochs. That's just plain stupid. QEMU and Bochs are two seperate animals. Bochs is a full emulator whils...

If someone could find the "MacX" Xserver program, then I suppose you could connect to a compatible email program.

Hint hint. ;)

Quebec Earthquake (!!)

I felt it at least 300 km away, near Ottawa. I thought it was construction down the street. :P

Anybody else in North America feel it?

Though an MMU is a major requirement of possible A/UX emulation, it isn't the only one. You need precise device emulation of real hardware devices (CD-ROM drives, etc.) as well as an emulated/really SCSI hard disk. I believe this is the same case for MKLinux/NetBSD/etc.

Just make copies of the Basilisk II folder equal to the amount of session you want running, and put the configuration file (basiliskII.ini) in the same folder. I think that is all that is needed.

Basilisk II does not emulate an MMU. The only emulator that even comes close to emulating an MMU is FusionPC, which emulates a Mac II PMU.

There was some talk of an MMU patch for Basilisk II, but it hasn't seem to have gone anywhere.

The Cybersecurity Act 2009

Well, it seems this " Cybersecurity Act 2009 " has been passed by the US Senate, essentially giving the US government the authority to shut down the Internet in the U.S. in what it deems a crisis, among other things. Thoughts. I should mention that this would directly affect Canada along w...

Well, Opera always used to claim that their browser was the fastest. Back then though, I always found IE6 to be the faster (in general usage, I wasn't doing any tests). Yeah... funny thing about IE6. You know how they made it "faster" right? The IE6 performance boost is offset by the fact...
