Re: A2SERVER - fully functional netatalk

AppleTalk won't work, but Apple Remote Access does; it tunnels AppleTalk over serial. That's the point of the other thread. As for the modem, if it's the one I think it is, [...] set up MacTCP and one of the SLIP control panels, and it should work. Thank you for replying. That is very interesting i...

Rebooting doesn't always fix it, for some strange reason.
That's because sometimes something else loads at memory address 0 after boot. It's Russian Roulette every time.

Using the SDL build you can modify the keycodes file to map to your soft keyboard... but I'm not sure what mappings you'd need. It would be easier to use a wired or bluetooth keyboard with your Droid device that has the keypad on it.

Re: Cannot Map SheepShaver Data Area: No Error

...And never mind, it was just a fluke. It wasn't your webcam that was the issue, it was the memory mapping on your host OS. Rebooting cleared memory, which let SheepShaver allocate memory at the fixed address it likes to use. Since then, something else has allocated that memory, so your error is b...

Did you see the other thread about enabling ARA over a null modem cable? I have not, but I'll probably be interested at some point over the next months, tough I want to reiterate that I am NOT going for the web surfing thing with a Mac Plus. I'm not THAT patient. I'll only go for this with a SE/30 ...

What do you need Stuffit Deluxe for? If you only need to expand Stuffit archives, the free Stuffit Expander will do. Stuffit Expander 5.5 can be found on the Macintosh Garden site. Good point. Still doesn't explain why whatever I try, ShrinkWrap 3.5 refuses to registration code. Have you tried the ...

Re: Working on bin/cue support in SheepShaver

I almost gave up when I had a look to this wiki entry about DOS emulation : https://www.dosbox.com/wiki/Cuesheet The relevant part is this : The option --driver generic-mmc:0x20000 takes care of the correct byte order. Omitting it would lead to noise instead of music. Pretty straight... and from th...

Yes, they were built with the latest code of that time. Some of the variables such as color mode, ROM version, machine type, memory size and CPU type are build time constants at the moment. Briefly checking both of these were built as 4 megabyte Mac Plus. I guess we could provide a custom build in ...

I can't seem to install Stuffit Deluxe 5.5 installed on Mini vMac running 7.1.1. It just beeps and quits. Also, ShrinkWrap requires a serial number. Whenever I try to enter a valid serial number for ShrinkWrap 3.0 (or even just garbage) it says "Validation of the unlock code failed." Is t...

ok, i'm getting help from them, too, but may i ask - what do i need to do to get the mac os to recognize the .sit files? in other words, i have a .sit file in My Files on Android, the file itself. First you need to get Stuffit Expander loaded; MG has a disk image with it. After that, you just need to get your sit file stuffed into a disk image where Expander can do its job. thanks, but can u explain this in dummy terms? lol. like a step by step process would be great! stuffit expander, i don...

Thanks for all your help. So Ronald, are you saying that I can use Mac OS 9.0.4 International download from Macintosh Garden and it will work simply by adding it to Sheepshaver, or do I have to convert it to a .CDR? Currently on startup, it knows there's an OS there, but sends an error that says &q...

Re: Sheepshaver Problems

You can create a CDR even though the Finder can't mount the CD -- Disk Utility will do it, as will both diskutil and dd from the command line. To test the resulting cdr file, you'll need to load it into an emulator though. We discussed this before. A HFS CD-ROM will show up in Disk Utility in Catal...

Re: iOS emulator?

It's also not an iOS emulator; it's an iPhone OS simulator; the project name is a wee bit misleading. iPhone OS didn't get renamed iOS until version 4, and didn't get an App Store until version 2. If it can be simulated with enough accuracy, the simulator is still a worthwhile endeavor though, to pr...

Ah okay, I think my issue is that I can't mount the installation media in Big Sur to create a .cdr. So I'm looking for a .cdr file I think. Re: A2SERVER - fully functional netatalk

I finally snapped and went for a SCSI to SD card adapter. It's cute, it's small, no cables, no Mac disassembly. Real floppy drive remains as is, functional. It's like a FloppyEmu, except almost twice cheaper and it's one huge hard drive instead of a bunch of floppy disk images. I almost prefer it t...

I spent a long time today trying to make a bin/cue disk image to work in the current SS build. Another option is to open the file in a hex editor and strip off all the stuff outside the HFS partition. The resulting file should mount as an HFS volume in Mini vMac.
