Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

Why does sungem even exist now? the realtek driver problems regarding mac os 9 have been fixed, so what's the point of the sungem patch? OS X PPC support?

I presume that's the G5, so I hacked that code, a bit, and added it to MAC99.

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

I wasn't aware of any Carbon calls in the Cocoa.m file. What functions do you want to see removed? Not removed per se. It just so happens that cocoa.m includes this line: #include <Carbon/Carbon.h> Why does it import the Carbon/HIToolbox headers? If possible, wouldn't it be logical to remove all ca...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

I've figured out if I specify the drive arguments before the usb device arguments, it causes the system bomb. But if specify them before said arguments, it doesn't.

If you set up a repository on GitHub The only problem is that the zip file posted above (if that is indeed his local repository) is not a valid git repository according to SmartGit (a Java git client). Sure, one could do 'git init' on the repo and create one, but the changes as compared to 2.8.0 wo...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

All makes sense I think the only fix for that is to implement the SPRs. I agree that we need a github repo where we can mess with all this. According to this post on the OpenBIOS mailing list, the SPRs are as follows: It is probing if the hardware has these registers here. Nothing is wrong. We disc...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

Ah; that explains it; I moved my resolution patch to the 16 Aug build to take advantage of some stability fixes he added there. If I get time, I'll diff the two builds and see what changed that could affect the 256 colour mode. I tried the older qemu VGA driver (the one from July), and 256 colors w...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

I think I saw a student using something like the AlphaSmart back in high school during the mid 90's. Must have been a neat toy to have back then. When I was in high school, I was given an AlphaSmart 2000, then I dropped it too many times and it died. So I was given another 2000 and the same thing h...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

I've noticed that when there's audio playing via CoreAudio, and then launch qemu with the screamer emulation, that whatever is playing in OS X is momentarily clipped for a second. Is this a bug?

It's also funny how it pastes text the same way an AlphaSmart does by emulating a keyboard...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

One nice feature to have would be to support 256 color mode. A lot or older games (Lemmings, SimCity 2000, etc) won't run in thousands or millions of colors.

They pop up a message saying that they must be run in 256 color mode.

Yes. fixed :) However, sound doesn't work, and the extended graphics resolutions (1280x1024, etc) aren't working,. It displays 800x600 in the Monitors control panel, but it looks more like 800x600. And yes, I have the "Apple Audio Extension" version 2.5.2 installed. I also have qemu_vga.nd...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

Indeed: sungem, pmu, mac99p model, and vga are not rolled into 2.8. I concur. It's the same as rc5. As for the realtek support, the bug fix that prevented the rtl8139 emulation from working correctly has been fixed. So also no Leopard support out of the box. Because the PMU patches aren't integrate...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

Seems like there's a regression in the 2.8 preview zip file, because no matter what I try I can't get networking to work. Even if I specify the same IP info that the DHCP server assigns in 2.7, it still doesn't work: IP: 10.0.2.15 Netmask: 255.255.255.0 Gateway: 10.0.2.2 Nameserver: 10.0.2.3 2.8pre ...
