Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

I was wondering if there was a Mac build that combines both sound support & sungem support? Yes,I posted the last one on Jan 10.It's a custom version derived from 2.8.0/mcayland/ozbenh sources with ProgrammingKid cocoa patches. It has some issues, mosly concerning OS 9 runnimg. To @Doc_Static: it...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

AFAIK,the installer doesn't detect non-partiitoned(uninitialized) disks. The drive must be first initialized either in Mac OS 9(with DriveSetUp application) or in Mac OS X(with Disk Utility).

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

Strange that DP3 works for you but DP2 doesn't,for they behave quite similar for me.It may be a Windows-specific problem or a problem specific to your Windows version in which I cannot help much.I suspect you'll have to watch the posts on this forum back to mid-August and later to find some tips on ...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

When starting DP2 do you type "boot" or "boot cd:9,\\:tbxi" in openbios prompt? If I type "boot" I also get that message.About OS 9 looks strange, but try to type -cdrom MacOS9.2.iso instead of -drive file=MacOS9.2.iso,format=raw,media=cdrom(and "boot" in openbi...

Yes,but you can rename it now or later and make a copy of it to use for other system installations.

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

It's quite the same as what you did in your post from Jan 17. Just type <your 9.2 iso> instead of "MacOSX_developer_preview_3.iso".Next,in qemu window, type: boot.

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

It detects already formatted volumes. To format your disk image DriveSetUp.app from Mac OS 9 or Disk Utility from MOSX(first appears in 10.0 or 10.0 Public Beta, not sure) may be used.Is it a problem to change DP3 installation cd to DP4 cd image in your command line and boot to MOS 9 partition?Just ty...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

I think it can be erased in Mac OS X Disk Utility (from Cheetah or other MOSX installation cd or installed system) as well, but I did it in Mac OS 9.2 instaled in qemu.DP3 installer has no utility to format disks.

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

Try to use DP4 installation disk instead of DP3 (or even Public Beta) if you have it,to boot into Mac OS 9.Use DriveSetUp application to initialize your disk image.

Anyway, you've made a big progress  .It's almost there.

In my experience.I had to initialize disk images in Mac OS 9.Does Mac OS 9 boot when you type boot in openbios prompt(instead of boot cd:9,\\:tbxi)?

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

Try to add -device usb-mouse to your command line.

For installation you need a hard disk image. Is there one in your qemu folder(a file with, say, .raw extension)?

Yes,it is even necessary.I've forgotten to mention that.Public Beta and higher versions work with G4.(G4 emulation in qemu is currenty better).
Does it start?

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

In Windows it must be C:\Program Files\qemu and similar for iso. / is used in Unix systems, \ in Windows. You also need -bios <your openbis>.elf and -prom-env "auto-boot?=false'.Your openbios file must be in qemu folder. When qemu starts, type boot cd:9,\\:tbxi.If C:\Program Files\qemu is just th...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

Sorry, but you're wrong  .You definitely misunderstand "cd" command, and it is not a qemu but a cmd command."cd" is not "cdrom" but "change directory".That is "get inside a folder".Just type "cd /?" in cmd and see.And to start qemu you...

Your problem is that you don't understand using command prompt(cmd.exe) in Windows and that's why you misunderstand what we say.Watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CrAflgXyX4U or this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3xxy_kQCdQ ,read this: https://www.google.ru/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

No,you should cd(cd or chdir is for "Change directory") to the folder where qemu is located and start from there. The command line should be adapted to your system(paths to installation cd image and disk image should be correct). You're almost there  .Use /? or help in cmd.exe to know...

I don't use qemu in Windows myself but I think the build at the page linked in my previous post will do.It's not an official one.Qemu official is still unable to do DP3.Download,unzip,open cmd.exe,cd to unzipped folder.See the posts at that page(and previous pages) to know the command line suitable,...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

DP2 and DP3 work in qemu since July/August;to make DP4 work just attach installation image as a hard disk and boot to it.Rhapsody and Mac OS X Server cannot currently be really used because of keyboard/mouse not working.About "canonical windows builds" see http://www.emaculation.com/forum/...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

Openbios can work of course with windows builds but to boot successfully DP1 you need vga patch applied to Old World which is missing in known windows qemu builds. But you may compile your own build from source I posted on Jan 05.I haven't yet learned to make windows builds myself.

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

To boot OS X Server and DP1 you need a modified OpenBIOS that removes the partition valid check. I recompiled https://github.com/ozbenh/openbios using the ppc-elf toolchain at http://awos.wilcox-tech.com/downloads/AWOS-CC.bz2 (decompresses to a dmg). Oh,it's good, thanx for info and script.I have fo...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

The only problem is that the zip file posted above (if that is indeed his local repository) is not a valid git repository according to SmartGit (a Java git client). Sure, one could do 'git init' on the repo and create one, but the changes as compared to 2.8.0 wouldn't be logged as commits. Yes,the ...
