As for YouTube, I had a PowerMac G3 with a 500MHz G4 upgrade and a Radeon 7000 graphics card and youtube didn't have a very good frame rate. You'd probably see about 3 frames per second. It is much better on my 500MHz PentiumIII where is runs pretty well (but not perfectly). This was in both OS9 and...

This sounds quite interesting having BII on a small device.

But what actually does the Nokia Internet Tablet do other than run BII? (I'd never heard of it before this topic).

I didn't read all that, but it looks like a hell of a lot of stuff.

Have any of you used Vista on an old machine? My newest machine is still the 500MHz PIII which I got in 1999, happily running Windows 2000. I'd like to try Vista on it just for the sake of it, but I don't have a copy of Vista.

Nice. Would look good with System 6 as well. I'm sure I have some system 6 disk images some where which I could use to run it on my machine.

On the rare occasion that I have used an emulator during the last three years, I have continued to use HFV Explorer. Never had problems with it. A copy can still be found on the net. That being said, good care should be taken of your tool For reference, it can be found here http://emaculation.com/qu...

Going a bit crazy with the Submit button there Cat? (I see the site has been a little slow/unresponsive today) Thanks for clarifying that. Is it possible to use Stuffit Expander?

I've not used Stuffit for splitting files so I can say how to do it but I'm sure it is possible.

Do any of you know how to find the checksum number? That's probably one of my issues. When you load the ROM into the BasiliskII Prefrences programme (I forget what it's called), it should tell you. Alternatively, if you ripped it from a real Mac, the ROM grabber programme on the mac should have tol...

startup_checksum.wav is the file which BasiliskII for Windows will look for and play on launching (and is usually a startup chime). Checksum is the checksum of the rom.

Does the MacOSX version not support this?

Great. :)

This will be useful. I keep planning to set sheepshaver up on this system, but I always forget. I will have to write it down.

Would you like me to give the FAQ a tidy up and put it on it's own page on Emaculation?

Can't say anything specific to New York as I have never been there, but I can't imagine there would be many shops around selling such processors. If there are any small independant computer shops, they may be able to help. Otherwise, the internet is probably your best bet.

Does anyone know why companies tend to still sell such batteries? I don't know whether it is old stock or whether they continue to be manufactured. But at the prices they charge I would be very surprised if anyone buys them.

You may be able to buy some new cells for it, or even replace the cells with rechargeable AA or AAA cells. I don't think you will be able to revive the old one. You could try fully charging and discharging it a few times, but that won't necesseraly make it last very long, if at all. You could just k...

You should be able to select the disk to startup from in the Startup Disk prefs. It should matter whether it is slave or master, but it will probably choose the Master drive until you change it in the prefs. You also should be able to hold down the Option/Alt key after switching on and select the bo...

Should be fine with the G3 heatsink. I have run a Sonnet G4 upgrade in a beige g3 with the G3 and I am pretty sure they are designed to use the same heatsink. Not sure about Yikes processors though. I'd try it, but you might be better off getting a G4 heatsink if you can, just to be on the safe side.
