startup_checksum.wav is the file which BasiliskII for Windows will look for and play on launching (and is usually a startup chime). Checksum is the checksum of the rom.

Can't say anything specific to New York as I have never been there, but I can't imagine there would be many shops around selling such processors. If there are any small independant computer shops, they may be able to help. Otherwise, the internet is probably your best bet.

Does anyone know why companies tend to still sell such batteries? I don't know whether it is old stock or whether they continue to be manufactured. But at the prices they charge I would be very surprised if anyone buys them.

You should be able to select the disk to startup from in the Startup Disk prefs. It should matter whether it is slave or master, but it will probably choose the Master drive until you change it in the prefs. You might be best selecting an older model of macintosh in the BasiliskII prefs, maybe a classic.

Should be fine with the G3 heatsink. I have run a Sonnet G4 upgrade in a beige g3 with the G3 and I am pretty sure they are designed to use the same heatsink. Not sure about Yikes processors though. I'd try it, but you might be better off getting a G4 heatsink if you can, just to be on the safe side.
