Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

Oh, I see, There is no 256 color option in that build. Strange, there is in the SDL based Windows build from the same source. I tried various new installations off different cd images, but the option will indeed not appear. Builds from the current Qemu master source do show the 256 colors/grays opt...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

If you're using the -g command line option, it's not needed to specify the bit depth. I just use -g 640x480 or -g 800x600 and be done with it. However, sound doesn't work yet, reducing the atmosphere of the game a little bit. That's what I was trying. Still not seeing the 256 color option in the Mo...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

I guess you need this build: http://www.open.ou.nl/hsp/downloads3/Qemu_28pre-vga-OSX-Leopard-network-wip-21082016.zip It has the vga enhancements, so you will be able to set resolution and color depth. Best, Cat_7 So that's the build I'm already using. Is there any special things I need to include ...

What's the Mac build & files needed to get a 256 color mode working for Mac OS 9? The ones I have are probably pretty outdated. Trying to run Freddy Pharkas. Thanks!

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

I have no idea if actual Mac hard drives would work, but if they were to work, they would have to IDE drives, not SCSI. The worst case scenario is better than nothing and there are USB drives out there that you can plug into the Mac (although probably not bigger than 1 GB, but we'll see.) ...or a S...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

For Public Beta: boot with "-rtc base=2000-08-29" without -net option. In System Preferances>Date & Time>Network Time, disable Network Time Synchroniization.Next, shutdown PBeta and boot again with -rtc and -net options. Thus you bypass expiration issue and have internet. This works for m...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

With the Public Beta you have to set the date back to before May 15th 2001 and prevent it from getting online as it will do a network time check during boot. If it does, you'll get this when you log in. You can either pull the network connection for the host machine, or remove the -device sungem,ne...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

I don't know if it was disabling auto-boot or using G3 for installation (or both), but I'm having no problems with my OS X installs now. Installs of 10.0 GM, 10.1 GM, 10.2 WWDC, 10.3 WWDC and 10.4.3 were all successful, and I've just finished installing the Public Beta. It's great to be able to hav...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

It looks like Server 1.x, along with DP1, still needs some work to boot properly. Also, you can't specify the partition in the qemu command, only the image. Have you tried booting the partition via openbios yet? No, how would I do that? From the info I've gathered from the pictures, first specify t...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

How did you manage to specify the partition? I'm trying to mess around with Mac OS X Server 1.2v3 a bit and it just keeps booting to the Mac OS 9 partition of the CD. See above for specifying the partition. It's for DP2 and DP3, but I imagine that it would be the same for Server 1.x (which I haven'...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

I'd also like to note that Mac OS X DP3 crashes when trying to boot from it's CD in the latest Windows build. This happened when I was both emulating a G3 and G4. UPDATE: Spoke too soon. Apparently, I was booting off the wrong partition. Specifying the correct partition allowed DP3 to install fine:...

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system

I had problems with 10.2.8 installing back in January but now:

I used the Qemu_28pre-vga-OSX.zip package. Going to try and see if Fallout 1 & 2 (the OmniGroup versions from 2002/2003) work.

edit: Nope, both Fallout games crashed.
