Ah, and how could I forget my favorite, Taskmaker and Tomb of the Taskmaker, from Storm Impact software? I can't say I've played a lot of roguelikes and so I might be in error in referring to them as roguelikes, but whatever they are, they're still quite charming. The author publicly posted the regi...

So... Has anyone out there tried to take a look at this and get it to compile? The idea of making an open-source ROM replacement sounds kind of nifty, and it would be interesting to see if Syn68k is really faster than the current WinUAE core.

Re: Cd Iso Images

If you're using Windows, you can always mount the CD image with Daemon Tools and then mount the emulated CD-ROM drive in Sheepshaver. And if you're not using Windows, there's probably some similar alternative for whatever OS you're using.

A utility to edit Type/Creator information can be very useful when working with files transferred from a PC. I think I eventually found "Type Resolve" (by one James Thomson) back in the day, but I can't seem to find a copy right now. Maybe just ResEdit will do? I can't believe Snitch is st...

Executor Source Released

Poor neglected Executor. Maybe something will happen with it now.

(It would be kind of cool to see a standalone PC version of 3 in Three, I guess.)

A little research will reveal that you can easily extract the necessary file from a freely-available Apple update.

I tried to upgrate to 9.1 using the downloadable version. I will try with the Upgrate CD. Thank you for the information ! You misunderstand me... It still won't work with Sheepshaver, if I understand correctly - OS 9.1 requires the MMU regardless of what upgrade path you use. My thought was simply ...

From Mac OS 9.0.4, I updated to 9.1, but at relauch, SheepShaver crashed. Wait... Did you use an official 9.1 update CD, or the downloadable update? My understanding is that some of the old Powermacs could not be updated to OS 9.1 without a bootable CD running OS 9.1, and that the downloadable vers...

It's possible to update 9.0.4 to 9.2.2 via free downloads from Apple, isn't it? Is it easy to extract the relevant files from those updates and stick them into an existing 9.0.4 installation?

All those BII links are bad!

I refer to the first three links listed in the "links" section of http://www.emaculation.com/basilisk.php . They've all been down for some time now.

Executor Officially Freeware'd

What, no news post about this? An expiration-free authentication number is now available from ARDI (or the corpse thereof, anyway). http://www.ardi.com/ardi.php Ah, what fun I once had with Executor 1.99q some ten years ago! That was back when the demo version could still read and write Mac floppies...

I don't see why version 2.1.3 would be of any interest to software pirates, though. Or did you have something else in mind?

Bugger alle. It works perfectly now. I guess somewhere along the way I just had to restart my computer. (Using Windows 2000, by the way.) It still doesn't seem to be able to use the ISO image, but maybe I made that wrong. By the way, does this version of Sheepshaver not have some sort of "kill&...

SheepShaver Won't Boot from my MacOS 9 CD

Well, this is frustrating... I downloaded the new 05/14/06 snapshot of SheepShaver from http://www.gibix.net/dokuwiki/en:projects:sheepshaver . I have a New World ROM that I extracted from the downloadable Apple update, and I have a nice white MacOS 9.0 CD, 691-2386-A, which should boot from any Mac...

Repository for old Virtual PC Updates?

I have a nice boxed copy of Virtual PC 2.1 here for some reason. Maybe it's not terribly useful, but it might be cool to mess around with. Anyway, archive.org tells me that the Connectix website used to carry a 2.1.3 update for Virtual PC, but unfortunately the file was not archived. Googling only t...

Yes, thank you, that was informative, particularly that bit about the drive requiring a proprietary adapter to terminate. I shall indeed investigate further. (My SCA drive is from IBM.) SCSI Termination in a 6100

I have a Powermac 6100 into which I would like to install a 9.1 GB SCA hard drive that fell into my hands. There are SCA (that's 80-pin SCSI) adapters aplenty on eBay; I'm actually going to have to buy a second one since the first one I bought was too tall and the Powermac's cover wouldn't fit over ...

Well, whaddya know? Stuffit Expander 5.5 works splendidly. (It then identifies the mounted hard drive as a "ShrinkWrap 3.5" image.) Disk Copy 6.1.2 also seems to work a little better than 6.3.3 in the sense that it doesn't lock up, but unlike Stuffit, it doesn't restore the items that were...

Manipulating NDIF (Disk Copy) Images

So, as you may recall from this thread , I was trying to back up some old Macintosh hard drives over a network using Disk Copy. I now have a 133 MB compressed read-only NDIF image on an HFV volume on my PC. The problem is, I can't seem to mount this image with Disk Copy in BasiliskII. Attempting to ...

Geez, the BeOS port doesn't have SheepNet either! At this rate I might as well stick with the Windows port.

Anyway, Netatalk installs perfectly under FC2, but nothing happens when I hook a Macintosh up (namely, through an RJ45 crossover cable).

How exactly do I make it go?
