Thanks. That works fine. I just hadn't realised that the default extension of .dsk could be changed.

Rebuilding the desktop did not work. It is probably the issue with the Unix folder breaking the resource fork, even though I am using the 2 January build. I did move things into that folder, expecting that it would be the way to transfer stuff between OS X and SheepShaver MacOS. Having looked at the...

No icons in SS

I have just started using SheepShaver with OS 8.5, latest Intel version of SS on a new iMac running 10.4.11. All going as well as expected, I had trouble with one game but I think I have solved it (it needed to be played in thousands of colors, and I had to switch the iMac, not just SS, to thousands...

You could try making a disk image of Disk2, and see if that works.

It may well not, but no harm in trying.

Of course, maybe you have found a solution by now.

Yes, definitely, the most recent version of SheepShaver evidently supports external CD rives connected via USB. I think the earlier version did not. As mentioned in the Install Hack thread, until I either get a universal 8.5 install disk or any 9.0 disk, I don't know the correct modification for my ...

I am wondering about a similar issue. I have an external drive as well as the intyernal one. I can boot with my Disk Warrior CD in either drive. If I have the Disk Warrior CD in the internal drive and an install CD in the external (it isn't a universal install disk, so I wouldn't expect to be able t...

I'm stuck - as I have posted, but no reply as yet - at a different point. The instructions are for a 9.0 install disk. The 8.5 disk is slightly different, and one can easily get part of the way, but it's not possible to guess the exact change needed. It needs some expert to say what the change is. ...

It doesn't need to be an iso. All that's needed is a read-write disk image, for instance a .dmg file, which you can create using Disk Utility. I'm stuck - as I have posted, but no reply as yet - at a different point. The instructions are for a 9.0 install disk. The 8.5 disk is slightly different, an...

Valuable information, but it didn't apply to my Install disk. Presumably because it is an 8.5 System Disk, though it could possibly be because it is an iMac install disk. First, the name of the file is different (IMac Install Data (UK)) on my disk. And then the ID 3000 item has size 10 (not 16) and ...

Is there an equivalent technique for using any install disk on a Mac? I am just playing at the moment, as I do not have a proper version of the Mac OS. I was able to boot from an old Disk Warrior disk, which does have OS 9 on it. But this is a special version, and one can't just move the System Fold...

So yoou have 7.5 working.

I thought 8.5 (or 8.6) was the earliest version that workd for SheepShaver on a Mac. Has this changed?

I am currently using a PowerBook, and just want to play. I am planning on getting a MacBook, and will then use the version of SS on this forum.
