The version on Redundant Robot is a pre-installed version of Mac OS 9. You need to find a full CD for Mac OS 9 (Mac Garden helps) and install from that CD.
It should also be noted that this appears to be a QuickTime issue too, as the game does need QT5.

1) Which text editor did you use?
2) If you are using Notepad, make sure you save it without an extension by changing it in the save prompt.

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system
mcayland worded it pretty badly. Sometimes, emulators do try to get 100% accuracy. The big thing though is that BSNES/higan is emulating a games console with hardware that can be accurately emulated, though it's requirements are also very high as a consequence of this. Not only that, but the SNES us...

Re: Trouble with Software in Qemu [MacOs9.2.1]
There's a version of QEMU with the VGA driver. Without it, not only will you have to manually specify 256 colors mode, but it won't display properly (it will display as series of jumbled up black-and-white colors, even if you specify Colors rather than Grays/Greys).

100 PAL SNES games go MIA
So, a package was sent over to a preservationist from Germany to the US. The problem is that the package went missing/stolen from USPS, after going from DHL, which itself got the package from Deutsche Post. The package went missing somewhere around the Jersey area. The packaging was found, but the g...

That is indeed pretty sad. Now, in order to register these games, one needs to have some cracking skills or a serial list. This also assumes the SW is still available, though they could also make it freeware.

It wasn't just you, QEMU 2.8 does indeed go much slower than in 2.7. I have no idea why, but it's best to find the offending GIT commit that caused the slowdown.

Right click on the SDL DLL and select Properties. You'll see all sorts of info, including its version number.

For the resolutions, I believe that's in OpenBIOS. I have a WIP OpenBIOS from August 2016 that allows one to switch resolutions in the OS.
You can add that alias yourself, but that's done through OpenBIOS. I believe you also need the WIP OpenBIOS too.

Re: GSOC qemu Boot Mac OS >= 8.5 on PowerPC system
The Sungem device did not get merged into 2.8, at least using -net nic, model=sungem. Nor did the VGA changes. Not sure about the RTL support though, but it doesn't seem like it got in either . Mouse control seems to be worse in 2.8 when starting out windowed, with the host mouse being visible when f...

That is installation from cd starts, but as neither keyboard nor mouse work, installation can't continue... That's because it relies on OpenBIOS to recognize the keyboard alias as keybd, keybrd, or keyboard (I forget which) as opposed to kbd. I recall there being discussions of a fix for QEMU. Speaki...

Re: Assistance needed from a first-timer to QEMU
1. The mouse glitches, i.e. "spazzes" to random corners of the screen. (I've heard this was a problem earlier on.) Can it be fixed, and if so, how? Well, it can sort of be fixed by booting up windowed, then going fullscreen (Control + Alt + F). After you go into full screen, press Control...

Let's document Sheepshaver's code
Before I begin, Sheepshaver's code is here. Sheepshaver hasn't seen much development since Gwenole left. The most significant patch in memory is a patch that allows some Ambrosia games like Escape Velocity: Nova and Ferazel's Wand to run under Sheepshaver. There's also a monitor/disassembler named c...

I've wanted to this for so long. Huge props to you guys for doing this. I don't think it will be easy, but I do have some dev docs related to this for a Power Mac G3 B&W model. I can imagine there would be hacks to get around the hardware revisions Apple did. I can imagine the Old World ROMs bei...

Well, if you consider SS has not been developed for some 8 years, that statement is a little bit unfair. Also, one could argue SS is older than that. I guess SS was always the black sheep emulator, sort of an altered Basilisk nobody really cared to document and introduce steady improvements. Geddit...

If you're using the -g command line option, it's not needed to specify the bit depth. I just use -g 640x480 or -g 800x600 and be done with it. However, sound doesn't work yet, reducing the atmosphere of the game a little bit.

Because I forgot to point this out in the App Compatibility topic, I should point out that I used an Intel Core i7 (some pre-2011 models) and those eked out with slightly worse results than what kikyoulinux is getting. Seems like there's a new problem with the Power 9 vector instructions. Does there...

hi, when I try to run netscape navigator 4.7 which comes with 9.2.2 it crashes upon creating a profile requiring to close the emulator, any reason why? Hard disk writing errors. IIRC, Amazon Trail 3.0 for the Mac needs at least QuickTime 3 or 4. I can't make out which version you're using, but I suggest using Mac OS 8.5 or later.

Re: 9.0 or 9.4?
There's not much of a gain going from 9.0 to 9.0.4. Mostly to gain compatibility with apps like iTunes without having to change the OS's version number and have some bug fixes. Most of the improvements are for the actual Mac machines, not so much running it in something like Sheepshaver.

Re: [ROM] Dumping and using a updated iMac G3 ROM?
I think this is the closest thing to what Cat7 is referring to. Not quite the topic though. It depends on which version of the iMac G3 you're ripping the ROM from. The Old World ROMS supported are: Power Macintosh 7500 Power Macintosh 6400 and 6500 series Power Macintosh 8500 and 9500 Power Macinto...

Re: SheepShaverLauncher on El Capitan
When you're booting up in OS X 10.10 or later, Sheepshaver doesn't boot up unless you have it set to 32-bit mode, since Sheepshaver does some odd things to the memory. This is also why it's hard to compile, since fixing this requires that we find a way around its somewhat unusual programming.
