Probably is. I tried something like that once, but I think it was different version MacOS. It would be better if you had a full version of the macos, rather than just using disk tools. Have you tried using MacOS 7.5? That can be downloaded for free from apples ftp site, and can easily be upgraded t...

Actually, the Mac OS 7.6 copy was on a Disk Tools disk I found online, I just copied it to an HDF and upgraded it to OS 7.6.1. Could that be the problem?

This happens because Basilisk II is creating the PRAM file. Wait about a minute or so, then the Mac OS will start booting. :)

Mac OS 7.6.1 won't work

I recently upgraded Mac OS 7.6 to 7.6.1, but when I booted from the HFV, I got this error: Not enough memory is available while using To temporarily turn off extensions, restart and hold down the shift key. I tried doing that, no such luck. I even replaced the Finder with the Finder from 7.5.5, but ...

if i remeber good, SheepShaver will only work with NewWorld ROM's, thus not letting you use anything below 8.5 (correct me if im wrong). If you want to use 8, use Basilisk II (but you wont be able to use PowerPC apps tho) I've used System 7.5.3-7.5.5 and OS 8.0-8.1. You have? On the Windows version...

Would it be OK to open my HDF for SheepShaver in HFV Explorer and copy a file to it from Windows? I'm just wondering, I don't want my hard drive file corrupting. EDIT: I figured that on my own (made a backup of my HDF just incase something bad happened), and it didn't corrupt my disk. :) I ma...

I installed Mac OS 8.5 in SS, (it works ) but it runs very slow (sometimes locks up). :( I've heard SheepShaver was unstable, but I didn't think it was this unstable. :? Anyways, I'll post some screeenshots when (or if?) I can. :)

I don't think it has something to do with the AppleShare client, because I get no problems with the exact same version of the client on my Mac OS 7.6 HDF. As far as the OT extensions, if you need them, you can just hold space until the Starting Up bar moves. It will boot up, at least that's what wor...

Mac OS 8.1 won't boot with extensions on

In Mac OS 8.1, I was browsing the internet with iCab, then all of a sudden I got a type 3 error. I reran iCab (shouldn't have done that  ), and then it froze. I had to force shut down iCab. When I booted up Basilisk II again, it won't boot with extensions on. Once it gets to "Starting Up....

What program can I use to repair disk problems?

I was using iCab (browser for Macintosh) to browse the internet in Basilisk II. While browsing, I accedentily (sp?) clicked out of the window, which caused to freeze. :@ When I started the Mac again, I can no longer use iCab. :( I assumed the improper shut down caused a disk error. So, I booted up w...
