Maybe Opera market share will be boosted by the 10.5x releases.

I learned today that I'm no longer entitled to free health care at hospitals in Canada. I have to pay for health care, like I am some sort of American. I'm pretty sure that you are entitled to some free health care, such as in the event of an accident (a car accident for example). We definitely are...

And to think... he could have screamed "patent infringement" in regards to Basilisk II/Sheepshaver/etc. all these years.

Things like this only further my belief that software patents should be abolished.

They (the machines with 603/604 processors) can run up to 9.1, not 9.2.
Officially. It would still be an improvement over the 9.0.4 barrier we have now.

Also, we shouldn't discount using XPostFacto.

QEMU "PowerMac" emulator

Reading the QEMU article, it seems that there is a variation of QEMU that is capable of emulating not just a PowerPC machine, but specifically a Power Macintosh. Has anybody tried run OS X or earlier with this QEMU variation? I was planning to try it myself, just I haven't had the time.

I wonder how oldworld rom images were acquired. They must have been extracted in some way from actual PPC machines. Well, I don't know if it was the Rom Grabber utility I used. I was using OS 9, so that could have also been a factor, though all other precautions (turning off virtual memory, etc.) w...

I also used a ROM grabber to get the ROM from a Beige Power Mac G3, but it didn't work with SheepShaver. I think I posted a thread on that a while back.

Perhaps a unique browser ID. Then again, Mozilla IDs tend to be very similar, so perhaps not.

Well, at least IE is continue to drop in popularity, but I don't think switching to Google Chrome is the way to go. At least they should use SRWare Iron or ChromePlus.

If you want a bit more speed, you may want to try the 0.9 JIT-3 release. It's more stable that the 2006 version.

All the more data for Google to exploit.

Yeah... they didn't cache those. :(

You can get thumbnails of the pictures in Google Image Search by looking up the image file names, for what it's worth.

Is your modern system Windows or OS X or something else? I thought that it would be great to run these on Snow Leopard. Ambassador's advice is good if you are using an emulator called SHEEPSHAVER (also nice). But for Basilisk he is a bit mistaken. Instead, you will have to download a rom image or f...

In order to proceed, you need a Macintosh ROM file compatible with Basilisk II or SheepShaver. You can get these ROM files from a real Macintoshes, or from various Internet sources (doing so would be a violation of the DMCA). Since you are willing to try SheepShaver, and you have a real Macintosh wi...

Oh. I remember the GUI for '94 did have a tab for Ethernet. I guess it was just a placeholder. BTW, I also tried SoftMac (ugh), but the same "not 24-bit addressing" error comes up. Rather than patching Basilisk II, is there some change that could be made to System 6, forcing it to run? EDI...

You should try Build 94 with a Classic ROM. You just won't have color or a bigger screen resolution.

I tried finding the source of the Windows-port of Basilisk II on the archived Macintosh Emulation Station, but the ZIP file supposedly containing the source code linked to the Basilisk II for Windows binaries.

Tried the archived version of Lauri's site as well, but the download wasn't archived. :(

I tried to set up Bochs to run Rhapsody DR2 using a tutorial I found. Bochs' main problem at the time is slow speed due to its complete machine emulation. It has gone through some speed boosts since then though.
