hm...weird. this post says it can: http://www.emaculation.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=1564&highlight=toast If it doesn't show you a bootable partition in PearPC, you are pretty much out of luck. What you can still do is burning the image to a CD(RW) in windows and make an ISO from that CD again w...

At least under german jurisdiction this is wrong. If I buy software in a store I don't sign any contract. After I have bought the software any additional restrictions (of course except normal (copyright) law) are void. A contract is not necessarily written. You refer to normal copyright law, but ob...

So, after all, we are only discussing about the little portion of the Mac OS EULA where it says "[...] install on an Apple Computer [...]" There is also that little bit where it talks about not re-distributing the software... Ya know, they can't really mean it. Not sure if I understand yo...

So, after all, we are only discussing about the little portion of the Mac OS EULA where it says "[...] install on an Apple Computer [...]" Is this really making all the difference? I mean, there are emulators for virtually anything... Playstations, x86 PCs, C64 sound chips, etc. etc... Run...

And this is NOT in the article I find it extremely funny that so many disclaimers needed to be stated at the beginning of an article that would otherwise be an un-biased overview of the PPC up to the G3. It's kind of sad actually. I think this guy is just sick of all the harrass emails he get...

Hey... nice to see some cpu geeks here! Interesting stuff. ... 8) Arstechnica is a brilliant site to learn about this stuff. I really appreciate their articles.

Make sure you also don't miss their Mac OS X articles! Very in-deep readings...

As opposed to v0.1.2 there should be a performance increase. :? The 0.3pre versions should be faster, though.

about that 64-bit thing again... in the apple site they say: The Velocity Engine on the PowerPC G5 has been optimized with two independent queues. OSNews.com on PearPC AltiVec patch...

Yesterday, on pearpc.net, it was anounced that PearPC has experimental altivec support. Among other things Altivec theoretically improves OS and application speed due to the ability to handle floating point math operations. [...] Funny aside is that they quote what was stated on emaculation and on ...

seems that you have trouble to enter the correct path. try dragging and dropping the dmg on the command shell it then fills in the path automatically.

Precisely what I said 3rd post but no one seemed to notice. yeah, but sometimes bare facts aren't that exciting... :P Not that anyone gets me wrong: I think it's a huge achievement that PearPC now virtually emulates a G4. If someone had told me so a year ago I probably would not have believed him.....

hey guys...

From the info I got from the dev mailing list and the wiki, AltiVec is software emulated at the moment. It should run on a 486 as well as on a P4.

Excel doesn't use Altivec. Altivec is an SIMD extension similar to MMX/SSE/SSE2. It is used by certain programs if it's there and speeds things up on a real G4/G5 but certainly not on the emulation (at least not until it is mapped to the hardware SIMD units of the host processor). There are also app...

Win2k doesn't have ICS or bridging. But it is no problem to use 3rd party tools for this job... - There are some bridging tools that run on win2k. Unfortunately, I couldnt quickly locate it with google, but I remember it has been discussed on these forums... - You can also use a proxy server running...
