That's why it's hard. And that's why I try yaboot and OpenBIOS right now. And New World ROMs contain code that Open Firmware executes.ihartmacz wrote:I dont't understand how the ROM would work. The ROM doesn't contain any code the PearPC boot loader could execute. The macintosh hard ware must do that.

A Way to run OS8/9 on PearPC. Sort of.
I thought about it, and figured it should be possible to run OS9 on PearPC by loading the Mac OS ROM as an Operating System. I have made several attempts, by trying to load it in the 'force' mode. No luck yet, but I'll continue trying. I also tried loading yaboot and from it loading the Mac OS ROM, ...

The game is in a DMG archive. I extracted the game from the DMG in OSX. I thought of using Stuffit. But for some really stupid reason, you need Mac classic installed with OSX to install the version of Stuffit thats supposed to be for OSX. If I could use stuffit to transfer the files, my problem wou...

and no Mac OS 9 will not run on x86 macs, and least not without some emulation because it is not compiled for x86.... That's something we didn't think about... What will happen to Classic on the MacIntel? Will it run as somekind of emulation environment? Or will they write some OS9/Intel that could...

Re: Help! Nothing Works!
First, you have to get Mac OS. If you have an "old world ROM", you can get anything from 7.5.3 to 9.0.4. If you don't, get 8.5-9.0.4, and extract the "new world" ROM from it. SheepShaver doesn't "just run".hi675 wrote:disk X:\Path\To\DiskImage

That way looks promising. If the heavy traffic does cause the buffer overrun, then we must find a way to 'hide' the unrequired traffic from the bridge. I thought the bridge should do that automatically (i.e. once it detects a certain MAC address on one side of the bridge it doesn't forward traffic d...

The WiFi (wireless network) specification doesn't allow more than one MAC address per network node, and therefore does not allow bridging. The routers bridging does work with relax that restriction, and therefore not fully comply with the WiFi specification. It's not a bad thing, but it might cause ...

@PPC_Digger Thank's for your answer. I have read about an 'OpenBios' Implementation for PearPC. With 'OpenBios', PearPC should emulate a PPC with MacOS 9 running. Is that right? Do you know something new about that project? Yes, with it OS 10.0 should work. But it is not yet implemented. If you wan...

What do you think the Mac will look like in 10 years?
Here is what I think: Mac timeline 1984-2015: 1984 - Apple introduces the Macintosh 1990 - System 7 is introduced, with 32-bit memory management and proper use of colors 1995 - Apple switches the Mac to the PowerPC architecture 1998 - The iMac series is first introduced 2001 - Mac OS X is intruduced...

Someone from Apple said they wouldn't stop people trying to boot Windows on the Macintosh. I don't know if this would mean that the ability to boot Windows would automatically mean that it was a standard PC BIOS (see my posts in the Apple and Intel thread for my opinions and some possible senarios)...

Well it won't matter if your Athlon 64 won't supposrt that, OS X won't be able to run on non-mac systems, they will prevent this from happening Yes, but I am pretty sure that QEMU or some other PC emulator would implement something to allow that, and then it would run on native speeds, so I hope SS...
