No, since the 'PPC' in my name stands for PearPC. I don't see Seppel changing PearPC's name to Xear86  .

Here is a standard UNIX method (I'm sure Toast has something easier & less complicated): First, you have to make sure you have another partition except the one you want to backup. Then, you need to have some UNIX, you can download Darwin , then burn it, boot from it (by holding C while the mac b...

The switch would probably cause PearPC to slow down a little, but it will remain, and join the "club" of SheepShaver and Basilisk II, serving as an emulator for an older machinve. Besides, there will still be Linux/PPC.

btw Yellow Dog Linux would probably slow down a lot more than PearPC.

Will Emaculation.com continue?
Of course. Emaculation is all about Mac emulation. It doesn't matter what's powering the Mac. Does it matter to your food whether your refrigerator uses 220v or 110v current?

You couldn't press Control-P without two hands (which is a pain in the butt when one of them holds the mouse). Sure, but how many people used mice back then compared to today? :p Maybe that's why the guys as IBM changed it with the introduction of the PS/2... However, I don't see a connection since...

Me too. You could always buy the development system for 999$. Pretty cheap for a Power Mac. Even an Intel-based one. If you want, we could split the price 50:50, you get OSX and I get the Mac  /

I "fell in love with Macintosh" at the first moment Me too. Back in 1st grade. It is amazing that I knew Macintosh, because I live in Poland - small country, where Macintosh was known very low (sorry for my ENGRISH ;p). Same here, in Israel. BTW I'm one quarter Polish. 8) EDIT: wow we're ...

Emulation Fun (Acronym game)

Here is a game I saw on another forum, and I thought to try it out here. It goes this way: someone says a word, and someone else finds a meaning for it. Then, the one who finds a meaning gets the next turn to say a word. Here is an example: Emaculation: E Emulation M Makes A Architectures C Capble U...

Well it won't matter if your Athlon 64 won't supposrt that, OS X won't be able to run on non-mac systems, they will prevent this from happening Yes, but I am pretty sure that QEMU or some other PC emulator would implement something to allow that, and then it would run on native speeds, so I hope SS...

That is a problem. For some reason PearPC does not work with AMD64. But for our AMD64/Linux users, there is a solution (thanks AMD for providing native x86 support). Just use the following commands: linux32 ./autogen.sh linux32 ./configure --enable-ui=sdl CFLAGS="-m32" CXXFLAGS="-m32&...

Wait, Xeon/P4? What happened to 64 bit? Is it EM64T? Or just plain old IA-32? I hope OSX/Intel will not be optimized for SSE3 (because my Athlon 64 does not support it).

Thanks but I already found that out shortly after posting that question. And you can also partition and format it in the OSX before the installation which is what I did. And wouldn't doing it your way not be instantaneous like if you do it with OSX's disk utility? It's okay, there is no problem wit...

TOLD YOU! I so told you. I knew there is OSX for PC hidden somewhere in a secret Apple safe. How do you think they "created" OSX for intel so quickly? Because they already had it. Finally they resurrected project "Star Trek". I hope that the Intel Mac won't be x86, because x86 is...

First of all, congratulations on the will to switch to Linux. Second, Knoppix does not require CoLinux, or even Windows to run. To run it, simply burn it, put it in your primary CD drive and reboot. That's the original purpose of Knoppix: to provide new Linux users with the ability to see Linux for ...
