Re: Mini vMac and CD Games

Can you try https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/virtual-dvd-romcd-utility to mount the game .toast/.iso? To do so, you need a fairly large MiniVMac Macintosh volume for hosting the .toast, of course. The .toast file is here, just in case: https://macintoshgarden.org/games/super-wing-commander According...

Re: Program in MacOS 9.0.4 in SheepShaver doesn't open

There must be a bootable MacOS 9.2 image for Qemu, I did upload some time ago. Found it: https://www.magentacloud.de/lnk/zq4MpCru Hope that helps. Qemu PPC configuration is not very Macintosh like, I´ll post my Windows batch file. What puzzles me, is that SheepShaver is just doing nothing on your si...

Re: Program in MacOS 9.0.4 in SheepShaver doesn't open

I see. That SheepShaver build is useless for you anyway on Windows. I did not try the game with SheepShaver / Windows, but I´ll have a look. Qemu PPC / OSX 9.2 seems to run the game too, but the mouse is misbehaving on my side. The game is loading the sample file with SheepShaver / Windows 10 just t...

Re: Program in MacOS 9.0.4 in SheepShaver doesn't open

I don´t know about the Japanese version, but Yoot Tower.toast from Macintoshgarden is running on my side with SheepShaver 2.5 for macOS Catalina. Host is i5-2540m , macOS Mojave. Guest is MacOS 8.6. The game was expanded from .toast to 2GB HFS+ disk image within SheepShaver. Actually, I only opened ...

Re: Run Mac OS 7 or 8 in BasiliskII directly in the WEB BROW

Dont want to debase the work of the makers of the Java Script Basilisk II build. I just feel that the .js based emulator has very limited options and it is slow. As posted over at Macintoshgarden, you may easily see the difference on an old Windows rig: https://macintoshgarden.org/forum/in-the-news-...

Re: Drag and Drop on MacBinary II

Most likely the Mac resource fork of the bin file is lost in transition. Is it possible to open the bin file from within the MacBinary app via File Menu on the target side? It should be doable to restore the resource fork with another app like MiniConversion. MiniConversion is included here: https:/...

If you are not familiar with creating (large) disk images, you may grab one here:
https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/disk-images-emulators
Best use something small like the 3GB image to keep things simple.

Re: teachtext won't open

Exactly. You may use the System 6.img (or the MacOS7.5.3.dsk) as you wish. __MACOSX is a left over of the default OSX/maOS Zip app, which should be deleted. The file is invisible with OSX btw. Sorry for using a proprietary zip app, better solutions are available, just not that convenient. You may al...

Maybe try this bootable image (2. DL): https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/system-6-collection See folder Utilities for TeachText and BBEdit Lite. BBEdit will open almost everything readable and you may have multiple documents opened at one time. Saving files always worked for me with BBEdit. SimpleTex...

Re: This disk (CD-ROM) is unreadable by this Macintosh

Maybe a long shot, but I would give Basilisk II Build 142 a go with a Windows 2000 virtual machine and the USB floppy drive attached to it. If Basilisk II B142 does not mount the floppy (Ctrl-Sift-F11), I would ask for help at Macintoshgarden. There are users in Sweden, Germany, Australia etc. some ...

Re: This disk (CD-ROM) is unreadable by this Macintosh

I´m using a virtual machine running Snow Leopard Server on a Catalina host for tasks like that. VirtualBox from Oracle is free and SL Server setup is fairly simple. Snow Leo Server is hosted at Macintoshgarden. Except for creating CDR master files from old HFS CDs Snow Leo also plays many old PPC co...

Rosetta was part of OSX up to 10.6 Snow Leopard. I did try with 10.5 as I have a running instance anyway. To install 10.5 or 10.6 on a modern Mac, you want a virtualisation engine like VirtualBox or VMWare Fusion. To install OSX, the Server version is needed. https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/mac-os-...

Re: Mini vMac - App bombs immediately with illegal instructi

The MiniVMac II apps from Macintoshgarden are outdated 32bit apps for reference. There is no support for the builds, they are an example for the old build helper output, which was available on Paul C. Pratt´s pages before he switched to MiniVMac 3.6. The apps run with 8-16-24 bit colour, as the name...

Re: QEMU Mouse Not Responding

Maybe I spoke too early and someone here could try AE with QemuPPC and OSX 10.3? The game is not working with an Intel 10.5 / Rosetta virtual machine in VMWare Fusion, however. My Core2 Duo Hackintosh (AMD HD5450) plays it fine with 10.6 / Rosetta, a real working GPU seems to be the must have. Just ...

I would not know where to start either with Strata. No manual, no models... 32bit Quickdraw was needed for the early colour capable Macs, like the Mac II. I think it was on a separate floppy for installation. If you want to stick with System 6, feel free to look here: https://macintoshgarden.org/app...

Re: Mini vMac - App bombs immediately with illegal instructi

The DL from Macintoshgarden is the naked file only. I did add a NDIF image with the app as second DL. Strata does work on my side (Mojave) with MiniVMac II, Basilisk II and SheepShaver. MacOS was System 6.0.8 to 8.6. The default MiniVMac.app does not run Strata due to the missing FPU. If you happen ...

Re: How do I set up the Internet connection under SheepShave

There is nothing wrong with sheepVM, but why not use the 4MB OldWorldROM all the time? The OldWorldROM does boot images made with NewWorld, you may also use the Start Volume Control Panel to switch from say, 8.6 to 7.5.3 - at least thats what I am doing all the time. My host OS is Mojave, other host...

Yes. No dice with MacOS 7.5.3 and SheepSaver.
BlankLadder3 can be opened via 3DMF Viewer after installing QT3D, but that was not the question.;)
Looks like QemuPPC is the only way to run the app. The pict above is from MacOS 9.2.

Re: Trying to use an old OS9 application, SS Crashes to desk

Tried with SheepShaver MacOS 7.5.3 and got an error message that Quickdraw 3D was missing. So it might just work, when the matching system extensions are there. 3DMF looked like a big thing once upon a time, not sure with which OS it was introduced - there was no discrete GPU needed for 3DMF, if mem...

Don´t worry, your question is not that easy to answer. Even worse, all adapter gadgets for the PowerMac 7100/80 became rare and expensive meanwhile. I was using these kind of adapters back in the days: https://www.ebay.de/itm/Dayna-EasyNet-TRX-Transceiver-AAUI-BNC-UTP-Port-Apple-Talk-Adapter/3035284...
