In SheepShaver I still use AppleWorks 6 occasionally to view or modify (bring up-to-date) and print old documents. Some documents exactly fit my needs and I never bothered to reconstruct them in a newer application.

If you use in your prefs file the custom setting hardcursor true you could try if changing it to hardcursor false solves the issue.
