So the Altivec builts are faster than normal PearPC. I understand that the Altivec simulate G4 instead of G3. First there was PearPC, which was 1/500th speed (...), then JITC was implemented which boosted PPC-emulation to ca. 1/15th speed, right? Question#1 But why is Altivec faster (since I assume...

Well, it's just what works for me - your router might behave differently, but mine's happy to pass DNS to clients (without DHCP, even). I have it as DNS server in my LAN settings as well, because it (the router) gets its DNS server addresses by DHCP because they change now and then..

That all seems fine. So what is the config on the Mac? Here's mine:

Config IPv4: Manually
IP: 192.168.0.2
Netmask: 255.255.255.0
Router: 192.168.0.1
DNS: <hardware router's IP>

I can't view that attachment without signing up to that board (and I'm on too many already!) - what I meant was, are you using ICS, ethernet bridging, or a proxy server?

Hmm, I'm quite baffled. I can't see any reason ZA-related or other wise, why ping requests would get through but not HTTP requests.

What method do you use to connect the two networks (LAN to the Mac and WAN to the Internet) together? And is this a paid version or free version of ZA?

I did wonder about this: is it sufficient to produce a copy of the incriminating app., or did someone need to get it witnessed by a lawyer etc. at the time?

I don't know how easy it is to falsify compiled code, so maybe you wizards can venture a theory on that one...

I wouldn't worry about that - Dan Foesch certainly doesn't seem concerned, as he stated in the thread on 'that other site'. I think the fact that there are plenty copies of the original release out there in the wild is the main point. Hell, someone at Wired news even has that beta copy Arben gave th...

There seems enough good stuff in the main CVS now to merit an official 0.4 release, native CD-ROM alone should deserve a release IMO. *Maybe* they are holding back because they are close to completing another major improvement? I guess the HW-MMU development is the big challenge right now, and they ...

Hmmm... so the Mac cannot get DNS without a third-party DHCP server?

The router acts as DHCP server on my home net, where I'm able to use ICS in normal config, so I give the Mac the host's external NIC address as router and that seems to work. Would this no longer work?

If that's true, it could help me greatly with something at work. Can you tell me how to do this?

I think most of us struggle to get the smoothness. Couple of things you could try: - reduce screen size or bit-depth. Personally I'm comfortable with 600x800x32, though you may want more...! - increase the RAM. I only have 512MB installed, but I can get away with giving PPC up to 1GB (0x40000000) wi...

Nice platform - with that kinda power I guess you can afford to go down to the minimum - 10, I think... Well done on your progress, anyway...hurrah! ICS does 'just work' but only serves an adapter with the exact IP address 192.168.0.1 - your changes to the physical network's subnet have brought you halfway there, but the TAP adapter MUST have that specific address. If you've actually successfully enab...

Looking at your network info above, first and foremost you will need to sort out the address distribution. Your physical NIC (presumably connected to a router+mod...

Hi Frank, If the network connection between the (OpenVPN) TAP-Win32 adapter and your Mac seems to be up, but you can't view Web pages, maybe you have a DNS failure. First you should check whether the connection is really alive. Sometimes you can have it showing as 'green' in System Preferences/Netwo...

Hi there, I know what it is to hate the TAP adapter. It seems very temperamental with SP2. Mac Em is correct, sometimes a clean reinstall helps - but sometimes it don't. An extra bit of cleaning you could do (don't know if it really helps, but...) dump any registry entries for OpenVPN. First, uninst...
