Re: Tiger for Intel on VMs
Tiger for Intel works fine on VMWare Fusion x86, VirtualBox x86 and Parallels Desktop x86, and has done for over a decade. There's one tweak you need to make on VMWare to allow it to boot: add a single file to the System folder that makes VMWare think it's the Server version of Tiger. Once you've bo...

Re: SheepShaver on Intel Mac Sonoma 14.3 opens then closes
Thanks both I tried downloading the ROM file again, unzipping, renaming and moving to the SheepShaver folder, but alas it still didnt load. However running from the terminal I got the following error ./SheepShaver SheepShaver V2.5 by Christian Bauer and Mar"c" Hellwig 2024-02-20 19:40:37....

Re: SheepShaver on Intel Mac Sonoma 14.3 opens then closes
One other thing to try is to open terminal.app
> cd <path to your SheepShaver folder>
> ./SheepShaver.app/Contents/MacOS/SheepShaver
And then check for debug output, which should tell you why it's quitting.
> cd <path to your SheepShaver folder>

Re: Firewire Pass through
Not as far as I'm aware -- it does USB passthrough, but I don't think a Firewire device is ever set up? That said, there's https://github.com/pdmccormick/qemu-firewire-ohci/ -- and I can see a number of similar projects dating back to 2009. And the QEMU docs pull up GSOC 11 and GSOC 12 projects to d...

Re: How to burn bootable Mac OS X Jaguard media?
Best solution: create an 8GB partition on your Mini's boot media, and restore the Jag installer to that. Then boot with option held down and select that partition to boot from. However, if you've already got MorphOS installed, it's possible that you have the MorphOS bootloader installed as well, whi...

Re: SheepShaver for Windows
Try to stop MSI afterburner, then official release sheepshaver (01.19.2024) works fine. Start MSI afterburner then sheepshaver(01.19.2024) fail again. The patch mentioned below (move MAC system memory allocation to as close as start of main()) can co-exist with afterburner. But still don't know why...

Hi. I'm new to this so bear with me please. I'm trying to install ClarisWorks 3 on minivMac running OS 6.0.8, and the installer stalls when it asks for a swap of disk 2 for 1. Is there anything I can do to get disk 2 recognized, or am I out of luck? I've tried having all 4 disks on the desktop befo...

Re: Noob question: what is the Screamer build?
I saw this post and it made me curious. Are you saying non-screamer builds have no sound? How can you run a virtual computer without sound? I run pretty much all my computing devices without sound most of the time. Web browsing, email, spreadsheets, text documents and still photos don't generally n...

Re: SheepShaver for Windows
I can add my SheepShaver install on my main Ryzen 5900X Windows machine broke silently. Cannot map RAM: No error. I haven't used it in recent months and all I can guess is that a Windows or BIOS update must have added a security feature which breaks compatibility. Likely in the realm of CPU vulnera...

Re: Disk image creator doesn't work.
Now this is really interesting. When I try 4196, the disk only has 100 MB, but when I try 4000, it has none. Also, when I try 1000 or 1024, those sizes seem to work. So it must be some sort of arbitrary limit. Also, I should bring something up. When I try to install Mac OS 9.0.4, it's really slow. ...

Re: Disk image creator doesn't work.
Hi, I'm on the Windows version of SheepShaver and have noticed that whenever I create a disk image for MacOS, the file always has nothing in it. It doesn't actually "create" a blank disk image file. It just creates a file with absolutely nothing in it. Could you please help? EDIT: I just ...

Re: Redundant Robot OS9 image
Hey all! I am deciding to remove hosting of my OS 9 image and other Mac images from my site. They are too big and use up too much of my bandwidth. I will keep the ROMs up there for now but just thought I'd come say thank you for all the interest in my site over the years! Thanks for all you've done...

Re: Noob question: what is the Screamer build?
The Screamer build also requires the use of the screamer custom binary PLUS all its custom support files; you can't just move the app by itself into an existing regular build's folder and expect things to work. It's called "screamer" because that was the code name for the audio chip it add...

Re: screen sharing doesn't share clipboard
Since you're using UTM, the appropriate place to post this question is in the UTM Discord channel; other than the single thread on here, PPC QEMU on this server deals with the downloads linked from this site. It might be worth trying your same setup you use on UTM on a barebones QEMU as well, to see...

Re: How to copy files from HOST MAC OS SONOMA to Guest QEMU Running on it?
This forum is specifically about running 68k Mac OS on QEMU-system-68k. It appears that you're trying to run QNX on QEMU-system-X86_64 which means both the emulator and the guest system are beyond what this forum focuses on. That said, I'll point you in a more useful direction: https://www.qnx.com/d...

Re: Programming my own Mac emulator
The reason it only recognizes 8 MB is because that's how much is embedded on the Power Mac 6100 itself. To get it recognize more, we need to set up the memory regions and also expand the HMC controller to recognize the chosen RAM setup. Ah; so for now, limiting to System 7.1 as the OS is a good ide...

That's great! For those wanting to test: https://infinitemac.org/ (link to emulator found at custom -> run -> Machine -> Experimental) Oddly, I appear to have 8MB RAM no matter how much I select -- and most of the games on the Infinite Disk require more than 1.8MB (which means running Mac OS 7.6 to ...

There's multiple options, depending on your host and guest systems and QEMU configuration. If you have networking set up, you can set up a file share between the host and guest IF they have a shared protocol. Choices can be: AFP, SMB, FTP, NFS. Depending on if your host system supports it, you can ...
