System 6 if you do not have software that requires System 7.x. A rule of thumb is that the lower the version number the faster and less bloated the operating system (i.e. next to System 7.1, System 7.0.1 is faster). All pre-7 version are going to be much faster regardless though, since they were pro...

It's unlikely that it will be supported by a modern GNU+Linux system or any UNIX for that matter. It requires a SPARC processor and the binary was designed for Solaris. If we had the source code there may have been a chance. As it stands I don't see how. You could still try WINUAE+Shapeshifter as I ...

Ambassador, I gave the full version a try lately, but my Eee is still not playing any sound with FusionPC. Fusion setup says there is no sound device found. Did you make sure that a driver of some sorts in being loaded during FreeDOS startup? I don't believe that is correct at all. It comes with MP...

That's 1) difficult and 2) will res...

@Arbee: Ah, thanks for clearing that up. Indeed that IS some very encouraging news! We're well on our way to a Basilisk II replacement/substitute! Would it be reasonable to think that the relationship between M.E.S.S. and Basilisk II will be similar to Bochs and QEMU/VirtualBox/etc.? I.E., an emulat...

No one is going to release a Realtec AC97 driver for WIN98, do you think so? http://download.cnet.com/Realtek-AC-97-Driver-Windows-98-Me-2000-XP-2003/3000-2120_4-10238712.html ? Though I would recommend using Windows 95B instead of 98. It's faster, can have Internet Explorer removed, and more respo...
