How to set up Tiger X86 fourteen years later?

Anything about Mac emulation that does not belong in the above categories.

How to set up Tiger X86 fourteen years later?

Post by 24bit »

This is not exactly an emulation thing, as the goal is to run Tiger (or Leopard) on compatible hardware.
My Lenovo T60 (GMA950) with OSX 10.6.7 is more or less unused for years.
I would like to run OSX 10.4 or 10.5 on it, but do not know the whereabouts for the hacks before Nawcoms Mod had its high time.
All links for Tiger / Leo with iATKOS, Kalyway, iPC, iDeneb, Niresh, etc. seem to be dead for many years.
There are a few like me looking for the old stuff as posted in other forums, but in vain so far.

Did somebody here store the "distros" for Tiger and Leopard locally and is willing to share those?
A page at Macintoshgarden for such oldies may be best, but any other online storage should do too.

I´m aware of the fact that Tiger Server and leopard Server do work with VMWare Fusion, at least on Core2Duo rigs,
but I would like to see how the old stuff runs with a T2400 cpu, if possible.

I might have some stuff for you (if these old re-writable DVD's are image-able and the descriptions on the boxes are still accurate ;-) )

For now, I'm imaging:
Jas 10.4.8 amd/intel sse2 sse3
(which, according to the box should include ppf1, ppf2 and a patch. It beats me what meaning that ever had to me. But it did at some time....) It think I once installed it on a cheap AMD laptop with GMA 950, and on an ASROCK mainboard with 945 chipset and GMA 900. So it must have a patched kernel.

I'll pm you as soon as I uploaded it somewhere.

Best,

I just did this last week. I still had my Tiger DVD, so that wasn't an issue. Surprisingly, I was installing 10.4.7, and it successfully updated to 10.4.11 with all patches and installed software updates.

But that's on a Mini, not on a hackintosh.

Tiger is running on the T60, the Azalia package enables sound.
A few things like F-keys, WLAN and restart don´t work, that was to be expected, I guess.
Maybe a few things can be ironed out with further search for old hacks.
