Qemu m68k will not work!

Post by swordlink1 »

I tried doing the Qemu m68k. I downloaded a ROM, I made the images and made the pram size 256b. I just get a white screen and I copied the lib folder over. I downloaded QEMU for Windows and copied the QEMU files over from my program files. What is happening?!?!

Hi,

As you see from the closed forum, qemu-system-m68k does not yet exist. You'll have to be patient ;-)

Probably worth checking the official documentation:
https://wiki.qemu.org/Documentation/Platforms/m68k

The page has detailed instructions for running Debian 10 with the -M q800 flag.

I presume you're interested in Quadra 800 emulation, and not the other platforms the m68k emulator supports.

Note the bit below, if you were planning to run Macintosh System 7.1 through 8.1:

Running Mac OS
Note: Mac OS currently will not fully boot on qemu-system-m68k

I'm only using QEMU because when I tried to boot up Mac OS 7.6.1 with Basilisk II, it would not work. The Mac IIci ROM would not work, but the IIsi would display a white screen.

If you want to use BasiliskII with System 7.6.1, you will need a 1MB rom file like the performa.rom or quadra650.rom (and best set Model ID to Quadra900 and CPU type to 68040).
