HFVExplorer?

Anything about Mac emulation that does not belong in the above categories.

HFVExplorer?

Post by ClockWise »

Okay, so if HFVExplorer isn't really available from Lauri anymore, what have people been using to move stuff inside and out of disk images for the last three years?

(yeah, it's been like three years, four continents and 25 countries since I used an emulator and I am starting again with Mini vMac)

HFV Explorer is still the tool of choice for Windows users.

A copy can still be found on the net. That being said, good care should be taken of your tool ;-)

On the Mac, disk images can be opened with OSX diskutility.
Furthermore, at least for Mac, the stability and usefulness of the external file system has increased recently.

sometimes trying to mount a minor damaged(mountable in Classic OS) .img file with Disk Utility will cause errors or even kernel panics.

On the rare occasion that I have used an emulator during the last three years, I have continued to use HFV Explorer. Never had problems with it.

For reference, it can be found here http://emaculation.com/quick/hdexp131.zip. I do sometimes forget where to download these things from when people ask me for them.

Yeah, I used HFVExplorer. I think we figured out WHY Lauri stopped providing it over on Jim's forum, but I can't remember now. Any idea?

Meanwhile, Paul Pratt has produced a couple of helpful utilities:
