Can anyone tell me how to identify a given ROM image and which Apple machines it might be associated with? I have accumulated several iROM mages and now have gotten them a bit mixed up, trying to run all three emulators here and assigning generic names to the ROMs.
Also, the compatibility issue seems like it might be important. I can get certain combinations of ROM/OS to work, but I have problems with other combos. I would like some way to figure out which OS might or might not be compatible with a given ROM.
Thanks for any help here.

Re: ROM identification and compatibility
Hi gwsmithgw,
Open your ROM images in a binary file editor and note the first four hex bytes. This is the ROM checksum.
Then compare your ROM size (64K, 128K, 256K, 512K, 1MB, 2MB or 4MB) and checksum with the data given in any of the ROM tables at the following URLs to identify the Macintosh model the ROM was grabbed from and its compatibility with the various Macintosh emulators. In most of the tables, the range of Mac OS versions which a given machine (or ROM in emulation) will run is also indicated.
Emulators Online ( http://www.emulators.com/softmac.htm ) Scroll down to the ROMs table at the bottom of the page.
