Anything about Mac emulation that does not belong in the above categories.

Some notes only

Mac OS8:
A good universal startup disk for BasiliskII and SheepShaver is Mac OS 8.1.
If you can find a copy of the OS8 disk from 1997 you will be able to set up a Mac volume that wil run both with emulations. SheepShaver is pretty fast with 8.1 too. You will, of course need a 4MB "old world" ROM.

Norton:
Though you can't use Norton Disk Doctor with SheepShaver's hardfiles, it is possible to use System_Info or Speed_Disk. Speed_Disk processes harfiles on recent SATA volumes very fast.

Audion 1.5 from Panic Inc:
Audion plays MP3 files from your "Unix" or "Desktop" volume, it works very fluently
with SheepShaver and requires Mac OS 8.0 or above. It comes with several faces, a mp3
info editor and manages playlists.
Audion is supposed to play streaming MP3 audio over the Internet, but I didn't try that.
I case Audion is hard to find on the net, I might send a .sit copy (1.6MB) for evaluation.
The file was distributed ten years ago on a MacWorld CD.

Apple CD Audio:
CD Audio plays CD tracks from your host system's DVD device,
IF you are on Win2k, XP-SP2 or XP-SP3.
I have no idea about recent Microsoft OS.
Works with BasiliskII and SheepShaver with OS 7.6 to 9.0.
Unix-like kernels seem to be unwilling to to play CD tracks, for what reason ever.

Have you actually done that yourself?

Oh sure, everything is tried out and true, I am not telling tales:-)
When you make a clean OS8 install for SheepShaver, the image will run with BII as well.
The same is working with 7.6 as well, exept for some Quicktime system extensions.
I just found time to play a little.

Greetings!
