The Old Mac Archive appears to be inaccessible as of some time between late 2012 and now.
I have attempted to contact the owner (MCP), without any response. Does anyone else in the community know what happened or what the future status of the site is?

Part of the problem: This issue.

What does your question have to do with this thread from two years ago?Babblu wrote:Hi ... With all the incredible work done to help us run OS 9 apps on OS X, is there any clue to do the same thing with PPC apps on Lion ? Thanks in advance.
If you're asking about getting OS X PPC apps running without Rosetta, Pear PC would be the only game in town.

It was a spammer, whose account has now been deleted.

MCPs Mediafire collection should be regarded as lost due to the known issues.
I´m rather sure that he stored a copy of his gems locally and hopefully we will see uploads to Macintoshgarden´s internal server some day.
Some stuff has been secured by Max1zzz, mrdav and others. (Even some of my uploads)
Looking back it may have been unwise to rely on a free cloud storage with MF, RS, you name it.
Think of all the time sorting, uploading, caring - for nothing - and having it deleted because of a wrongly claimed request from some greedy agents.
Max1zzz, Knez and others show the way: Store your stuff on a home server or don´t link it to the net at all.

Re: Old Mac Archive & MCP
An even better way would be to submit the stuff to the Internet Archive -- after all, they have the legal right to archive all the old software, and are one of the few places in the US that do. Personally, I'd love to see the Macintosh Garden come under the umbrella of the IA -- there's be a side-benefit too: EA software (for starters) could be stored there without fear of takedown.
Why is this possible?
The Internet Archive is a registered archive, and so gets special exemptions from copyright law (much like the Library of Congress). It's possible that they may not be able to make some content publicly available at the moment, but the fact that they have a copy would mean that sometime in the future, they may be able to make it available to the public -- much like they've done with their DOS collection.
For those of you interested, the Internet Archive has an almost complete collection of MacAddict CDs as well as mirrors of a number of the older online mac shareware archives.
[edit] Someone should submit the TOSEC MacWorld and MacWorld UK archives to them....
