Please insert the disk "OpenGL Parts"
I've tried to install a game that I want to play on Mac OS 9. But, I cant because I need to install OpenGL 1.1.2 and when I try to install it, a popup "Please insert the disk OpenGL Parts" and I don't get what it means. Please help.

Re: Please insert the disk "OpenGL Parts"
OpenGL came on multiple floppies or a single CD containing multiple folders (representing the floppies). One of those was named OpenGL Parts and it needs to be mounted on the desktop or be a folder in the same folder as the installer for the installer to find the install archive inside.

So, how do you mount it?

Re: Please insert the disk "OpenGL Parts"
How are you currently trying to install it?
http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/opengl-sdk has 1.2, which is good for Mac OS 8.1+. It's a disk image with all the parts in it, including all the SDK bits.
There's really no reason to install 1.1.2 on OS 9, as it should support 1.2 out of the box, and can support 1.3 as well.

When I try to install OpenGL with the disk, it says that the disk is locked. What do I do now?

Does it say the disk is locked when you try to run it, or when you try to install? You need to install onto your boot drive; if it refuses to run from the disk, you'll have to copy the disk onto your boot drive and run the installer from there -- but you need the entire disk contents, not just the installer application.

It says that the disk is locked when I try to install it with the OpenGL Installer.

Maybe your boot disk is locked? Did you do a MacOS 9 installation yourself or do you use a pre-installed system like the OS9 image from Redundant Robot site?

No, I mean that the OpenGL SDK image is locked and so I can’t install it

See my comment above about copying the entire disk to your boot disk.

When I install onto the boot drive, it still says "Please insert OpenGL Parts"

If you can use 1.2.1, it came in a single installer. I just installed it in my MacOS9 system in a few seconds.

Re: Please insert the disk "OpenGL Parts"
So, I downloaded the OpenGL 1.2 file and when I tried to open it, a popup said "This file cannot be used on this file system. Copy to a Macintosh HFS or Macintosh Enhanced disk and try again. (-8812)"

Re: Please insert the disk "OpenGL Parts"
Please read the wiki on this site which contains these paragraphs. They tell you absolutely everything that you need to know.
I won't be available to answer further questions for a while.Applications cannot run properly from the “Unix” disk
If you use the shared folder and “Unix” disk to transfer applications for use in SheepShaver, always copy the applications and related files within SheepShaver from the “Unix” disk to the startup system volume (or to another mounted disk image volume) before actually using them.
Note that moving files directly from the “Unix” disk onto the SheepShaver desktop, does not copy them to the startup system volume. Those files will still be on the “Unix” disk, in fact inside the folder “Desktop Folder” in the shared folder. If you want to copy files from the “Unix” disk to the desktop, hold the Option key while dragging the file. That way the file will be copied to the desktop of the startup system volume.

Re: Please insert the disk "OpenGL Parts"
A couple of remarks in this discussion:
1. emendelson refers to the SheepShaver for OSX/macOS setup guide. So far, you (domination) did not mention your host system. Do you run SheepShaver on a OSX/macOS host?
2. Is installing OpenGL 1.1.2 in MacOS 9 really needed? MacOS 9 comes with OpenGL 1.1.3 already installed.
3. I am not sure the emulated GPU in SheepShaver supports OpenGL.
